Obama at Columbia-- the unexceptional student no one remembers
wnd ^

Posted on 06/09/2009 7:26:35 PM PDT by cycle of discernment

Obama transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University in 1981.

According to the New York Times, Obama "suggests in his book that his years in New York were a pivotal period: He ran three miles a day, buckled down to work and 'stopped getting high,' which he says he had started doing in high school.

Yet he declined repeated requests to talk about his New York years, release his Columbia transcript or identify even a single fellow student, co-worker, roommate or friend from those years."

Campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt told the newspaper in October 2007, "He doesn’t remember the names of a lot of people in his life."

Obama claimed to be a part of the Black Student Organization and anti-apartheid activities. But according to the New York Times, several well-known student leaders did not recall his involvement.

Fox News made contact with 400 of Obama's classmates. No one remembered him.

The Columbia University chapter in Obama's life remains blank, according to the New York Sun.

"The Obama campaign has refused to release his college transcript, despite an academic career that led him to Harvard Law School and, later, to a lecturing position at the University of Chicago," the Sun reported in September 2008.

"The shroud surrounding his experience at Columbia contrasts with that of other major party nominees since 2000, all whom have eventually released information about their college performance or seen it leaked to the public."

According to the New York Sun, a program from Columbia's 1983 commencement ceremony lists Obama as a graduate. University spokesman Brian Connolly confirmed that Obama graduated with a major in political science but without honors. Nonetheless, he was later admitted to Harvard Law School.

It could be. Columbia is huge, most students live off-campus, and he was only there for two years. Plus NYC is a pretty impersonal place. And Barry Obama may well have been doing whatever hanging out he was doing, with a small clique of young black adults, who weren’t necessarily all Columbia students or even all students. If he’d been an exceptional student, holding leadership positions in campus organizations, etc., I’m sure some people would remember him, but from what little info is available, he was nto exceptional, either academically or in any other way.

I’ve been taking classes at City University of New York for the past 6 years or so, while working full time. I know 2 professors would remember me by name, but only because I went out of my way to interact with them (in order to take incompletes when work had interfered with my studying too much, but other topics came up that would have made me memorable). I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you couldn’t find a single student who would know my name now, though a few would have recognized it within a few months of the course ending. I’m in a fairly small class right now (about 20 students), and only know a couple of students’ first names (and don’t know how to spell them), and I don’t expect that to change by the end of the course. And just a couple of weeks ago, I bumped into a student who’d been in a course I’d taken a couple of years — we recognized each other’s faces, and remembered chatting before and had a nice chat, but I don’t have a clue what even her first name is, and I assume she doesn’t know mine.

If you’re not interested in making a big city university a central part of your life, it will afford you the same anonymity that the big city generally does. What I’d be interested to know is whether Obama was already being groomed by mentors of some sort, who set him up with off-campus jobs and social/political networks. It’s quite likely, since he was a capable black student, and somebody had almost certainly made an effort to get him transferred from Occidental to Columbia. My guess is that there are quite a few people in NYC who remember him from his Columbia days, but that they aren’t and weren’t affiliated with Columbia . . . and they aren’t talking, quite possibly because they were affiliated with radical leftist groups that wouldn’t look good on a POTUS’ resume.

I don’t disagree with what you list, but I have long had the impression that Obama was also T. Kennedy’s idea.

How are you doing ?

I am doing well tonight. Very well. Earlier, I scrolled down the screen and found a thread I believe in, was very interested in and after reading comments decided I decided I could make "Positive" input and responses along with other like minded FReepers.

What have you decided to do this evening? I do hope you are enjoying expanding your mind.

Oh, and thanks for asking about me...and even more so for your 9 years of positive response to young FReepers, such as myself. You are very giving. I guess the 2009 sign registration date of your screen name means you have decided to stop lurking and embellish the great "unwashed" with your wisdom???

“No, we do not. THe only plausible explanation is that Obama was given a racisl preference or admitted to Harvard through political connections he does not want anyone to know about, or both. This was in the early 1980s, the heyday of racial preferences, when there were two piles of applications. I recall feloow students scrubbing their family history so that they claim some minority status — the lucky ones found it. Obama;s admission to Harvard has always been very suspicious, and no credible explanation was ever given. It is more palatable to conceal the information and dismiss suspicions as the ranting of wingnuts than release it and show how he got in.

Students who transferred colleges halfway through and gaduated with less than honors do not get admitted into Harvard Law School unless something or someone was tipping the scales. THis guy is President and he still has not been vetted — we really do not know hte first thing about him.. Amazing”

Occidental College - no records
Columbia college - no records
Harvard Law School - no records
At Harvard he was apparently “President” of the Harvard Law Review. I believe he was ELECTED to that position. he did not earn selection to the Law Review by grades or writing competition. He did not publish a single thing!!!

Has anyone interviewed the [legitimate] members of the HLR? They probably have some people of honor among their ranks, and might shed some light on what ‘bama was doing

In order to earn Honors at Columbia, you must have a GPA of 3.6 or better or be in the top 25% of your class. Obama graduated without honors.

NOW we are talking about it. Now as the First Imam is leading our nation to disaster. It just goes to show what a creep John McCain is, not to have questioned any of this stuff. Wright. ACORN. Edward Said, Hizbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood connections in Chicago. Columbia. NADA. All these issues were deemed out of bounds by the vile McCain. The little jerk should be pelted with tomatoes wherever he goes for how he allowed Obama to win without a fight.

I was listening to a podcast of the Andrea Shea King Show where she mentioned that an apartment building in Hawaii is being given the title of Obama’s birthplace home. An apartment building...

NO doctor, no hospital, no nurses, no babysitters, no nannies, nothing.....but he’s got an apartment building!!

He was discovered by George Soros through ACORN, whom he represented many time beginning in 1992. Soros financed the radicle ideas of ACORN when he could not keep Bush from being elected the first time. Looking for the perfect electable candidate, Soros saw Zer0 as perfect after his Senate election in 2006.

Zer0 was a programing of Ayres, George Wiley and Cloward-Priven...the perfect Manchurian candidate.

Hannity ran this up the flagpole constantly before the election!

Obama Had Close Ties to Top Saudi Adviser at Early Age

By Online Thursday, September 4, 2008

New evidence has emerged that Democratic presidential candidateBarack Obama was closely associated as early as age 25 to a key adviser to a Saudi billionaire who had mentored the founding members of the Black Panthers.

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman WorthyNews.com 9-3-8

In a videotaped interview this year on New York’s all news cable channel NY1, a prominent African-American businessman and political figure made the curious disclosures about Obama. (See Video Clip Below)

Percy Sutton, the former borough president of Manhattan, off-handedly revealed the unusual circumstances about his first encounter with the young Obama.

“I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him,” Sutton told NY1 city hall reporter Dominic Carter.

“The friend’s name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, from Texas,” Sutton said. “He is the principal adviser to one of the world’s richest men. He told me about Obama.”

Sutton, the founder of Inner City Broadcasting, said al-Mansour contacted him to ask a favor: Would Sutton write a letter in support of Obama’s application to Harvard Law School?

“He wrote to me about him,” Sutton recalled. “And his introduction was there is a young man that has applied to Harvard. I know that you have a few friends up there because you used to go up there to speak. Would you please write a letter in support of him?”

Sutton said he acted on his friend al-Mansour’s advice. “I wrote a letter of support of him to my friends at Harvard, saying to them I thought there was a genius that was going to be available and I certainly hoped they would treat him kindly,” Sutton told NY1.

Sutton did not say why al-Mansour was helping Obama, how he discovered him, or from whom he was raising money on Obama’s behalf.

A Sutton aide told Newsmax that Sutton, 88, is ailing and is unlikely to do additional TV interviews in the near future. The aide could not provide additional comment for this story.

As it turned out, Obama did attend Harvard Law School after graduating from Columbia University inNew York and doing a stint as a community organizer in Chicago.

The New York Times described how transformative his Harvard experience became for the youngObama: “He arrived there as an unknown, Afro-wearing community organizer who had spent years searching for his identity; by the time he left, he had his first national news media exposure, a book contract and a shot of confidence from running the most powerful legal journal in the country.”

The details of Obama’s academic performance are well known: At Harvard, Obama rose to academic distinction becoming the editor of the Harvard Law Review and graduating magna cum laude.

Less known are the reasons al-Mansour, an activist African-American Muslim, would be a key backer for a young man from Hawaii seeking to attend the most Ivy of the Ivy League law schools.

That is why none of this makes any sense to me.
I am sure some day soon we will find out the truth.
Someone from British Intelligence with connections in Kenya or someone in the Mossad with connections everywhere will find evidence and documents that indicate Obama was born in Kenya and flew to Hawaii with his parts a few weeks (days) later.

I certainly cannot rule out the possibility that Obama was actually born in Hawaii but in this case there is such a lack of evidence to support that idea.
