David Letterman is your typical Big City Limousine Liberal.

Dave is from Indiana actually.

BTW: Glamorizing redneck culture is like glamorizing ghetto culture. Just as shopping at Whole Foods and listening to NPR doesn't make you superior status-wise, nor does chewing tobacco and living like a slob make you morally superior.

Is there a place in the world for us folks who are neither latte-sipping pretentious poseurs OR slovenly rednecks? Methinks whoever runs for President needs to address the wide swathe of the population that is neither.

Competance and substance beat smarminess and/or style anyday of the week. Dave doesn't have the former (and never will), and Sarah still needs to prove she has it. Populist idiocy doesn't make you Nixon or Reagan, it makes you William Jennings Bryant.

There really aren’t as many slovenly rednecks as you suppose.

Does David Letterman live in Indiana now? New York you say? Is New York a big city?

Slovenly? I am glad an unpretentious person such as yourself was brave enough to know I come from slovenly people. My grandfather did not chew tobacco and my grandmother was the original clean freak.

What you see as “glamorizing the redneck culture” (if there is such a thing) is the ability of people with something in common to laugh at ourselves. A lost talent.

To see redneck equated with ghetto is beyond the pale.
