Jokes and sexual innuendos take a long-term toll, said Kyle."They desensitize the public to the very important safety role we fill. Sure, we are sensitive to any comment we believe demeans a job we feel is important, especially the safety aspect of it." They also hit attendants in the pocket book, he said. "We face a lot of pressures – from the public and from the corporate level -- and to minimize and devalue (our) job classification makes it much more difficult for us to fight for a pay raise." People don't think about that, in part because attendants do their jobs so well. "But I bet if you asked the passengers on the Hudson River flight, they would have voted to give attendants a raise."

I say that David Letterman should pay a price for his ruthlessness to the Palin’s and to the flight attendants. In addition to being removed from his job, I agree with another person I heard say that he should have to ride with Todd Palin on the next cross country snow mobile competition. What an ignorant and outdated comment.....many of the best nurses are male...there is a lack of male nurses in the profession because of idiotic comments like that. When a 110 lb. female nurse is trying to roll over a 300 lb. patient, who do you think get called in?
And in this economy, where males are hit the hardest, guess what males are still employed?

They’ve been called flight attendants for a long time now.
Have you flown recently? Get that image of the 50s or 60s out of your head. It is a fairly stressful affair for flight crews and passengers alike. People are not particularly well behaved, employees are under pressure and we listen to message after message about the threat condition being “orange”.
Your comment about nurses was equally out of date.
