Whatever Benedict XVI says is fine by me since Jesus Christ left him and his predecessors in charge.

“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the pope said. “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”

Hitler never mentioned Darwin and there is no evidence that Hitler ever read or studied Darwin.

You must have missed the part where I said that God may have used evolution as part of HIS plan. My objection is to the relentlessly atheist crowd who try every opportunity to use Darwin's imbecile tricks to exclude God from the process. I am not at all interested in smooching atheistic patoot or making those who are atheists "feel" like part of the rational sector of humanity. Also, whatever Pope St. Pius X said is fine by me. See Pascendi. I don't believe in the magic lightning bolt zapping the primordial swamp as the beginning of life. If you want to believe in the magic lightning bolt, then that will have to be your problem.

How is that search for the missing link working for you?

I am willing to compromise. If those who so passionately desire to be "descended" (interesting concept) from monkeys, apes, ape-like beings or primordial swamps struck by lightning really, really want to believe such things, maybe that desire proves that they are right, for themselves. Meanwhile, in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.... is still the gold standard. Lab geeks or no lab geeks.

You may also be pleased to know that in some respects, evolution is undoubtedly a valid theory. I an unrelated line, in the beginning (or at least very early), there was the Ford Model T but in a few short decades (and after JFK relieved Ford Motor Company of the execrable Robert (Falconboy) McNamara, there evolved the 427 cubic inch, dual overhead cam, Shelby Ford Cobra. There is no relationship by DNA or whatever but the logos remained and Ford the Father was the originator of both vehicles. That Cobra was the apex of automotive evolution and I have been priviliged to see one at Danbury, Connecticut, about 20 years ago. In those days giants walked the earth.

Finally, you will note that B-XVI is not infallible when rendering an opinion on next week's weather either but he certainly deserves more respect than the scientist cum atheist crowd probably offers him (except when opportunistically using papal quotes in argument with Catholics). It's a genuinely Catholic thing which you probably would not understand. Non-Catholic Christians might say that this is also a Scriptural thing that you probably would not understand. They are right as well.

The “Church” is the Roman Catholic Church. Those Christians to whom you refer are certainly Christians but they are not Catholics. Considering, as I do, atheists and agnostics (and nazis and communists and a number of other “ists”) as the enemies of my Lord and Savior and that my separated brethren who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are not His enemies and that His Jewish brethren (our older siblings in faith) are also not his enemies (given His Father’s promises to Abraham, among other things), I make it a practice (not always successful) not to argue here with practitioners of other forms of Christianity or of religious Judaism. I specifically decline to accept your invitation extended to me: “Let’s you and he fight.” When he and I have vanquished the enemies of our Lord, we shall have earned the right to disagree with one another in public because the appreciative audience for such quarrels will no longer have the opportunity to enjoy the mud wrestling.

1. Nor does it address the role of God in creation.

2. Nor do you. God can create life from dust or from anything or from nothing. He is wonderful and can do anything even without the approval or of lab geeks.

1a. You fail to notice that I find the theory of evolution entirely irrelevant to my life along with its cult of believers. What God wrote through Moses will do quite nicely. What Darwin wrote out of frustrated failure as a theology student calls forth no need to be addressed. You are entitled to your hobbies. Enjoy. I am entitled to ignore your hobbies. It's (at least momentarily) a free country. I see no reason why I should pay taxes to propagate Darwinian fantasies in gummint edjumakashun (the parochial skewels of the secular humanists and anti-American elements as well).

In the glory days, my New York Yankees specialized in “five o’clock lightning” (scoring winning walkaway runs in the bottom of the ninth inning). What relevance to the present tiff??? Scriptural passages speak of prostitutes and that does not make God one or Moses or Matthew or Mark or Luke or John either.

And no evidence that he did not but he sure did seem to think himself a natural born superior to anyone Jewish by ancestry, didn’t he??? Megadittoes as to Margaret Sanger.
