One reaps what one votes into office.

I was watching the Stanley Cup finals with my sons (both big Penguins fans) and we observed that Joe Louis Arena appeared to be sold out. My son asked “how many more homes in Detroit are going into foreclosure so these people could buy hockey tickets?”

In all good humor, there is a grain of truth. Michigan is a socialist economic wasteland. Headhunters I know tell me that there are a lot of people “trapped” up there; they want out, there are no jobs, but there is nobody to buy their homes from them. It’s a tough choice on what they want to do, but sooner or later the people who want to build a life are going to migrate away with only the clothes on their backs. Kind of like “Grapes of Wrath.”

But where will they go?

My Great Grandparents immigrated (legally) in the late 1800’s to Wisconsin from Germany.....oh, how far the state has fallen since then.....gee....wonder why....BTW, my Great Grandmother would make us stand up whenever the National Anthem played....on TV....wherever....to this day I have to stand, no matter where I am....(although in a car it’s really difficult.)

(Normal- meaning ‘prerecession era’)
Here in Dayton, OH 2014) Guess they haven’t figured in NCR and Cooper Tire leaving.

Those in Michigan, don’t come to California, our unemployment is worse, there are 10 million illegals, and we have gangs that practice cannibalism.

Florida sounds nice.

Speaking of MI, anyone ever notice the MI PSAs/ads that are constantly running on CNBC’s Squawk Box? I wonder how much those ads are costing MI’s taxpayers?

The genius politicians in my home state are also talking about jacking up taxes again. Glad I left. Granholm is about worthless and the state Legislature is not much better. The UAW and the MEA hold the real power, and won’t let up, even as the state goes into the dumper.

And I’m sure Granholm will blame Bush for all of this. Typical liberal. It is GRANHOLM who has destroyed this once great state. It is GRANHOLM who raised taxes. I’m glad that I left Michigan over a decade ago!

There are a lot of immigrants that migrated to Detroit in the first half of the 20th century and what’s left skeletons in industry and homes.

Sad sad sad because most were hard workers.

Great comments all...

Watch unemployment approach 17 to 20% by th end of the year in MI. ( David Littman, economist prediction).

The question is, how bad does it get after the GM and Chrysler fail, Obozo can't keep them alive for the next 3 years even the most leftist Honda driving liberal will start swaking.

Yes it sucks here in MI. So many dads volunteering at schools because they are layed off.

The worst prediction I have heard is this. A manufacturer of retail display fixtures has no orders later in the year. That is belly up folks.
