North Korea may fire missile toward Hawaii

TOKYO — North Korea may fire a long-range ballistic missile toward Hawaii in early July, a Japanese newspaper said Thursday, amid escalating tensions between the communist country and the United States over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs.

The missile, believed to be a long-range Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), would be launched from North Korea's Dongchang-ni site on the northwestern coast, said the Yomiuri daily, Japan's top-selling newspaper. The report cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.

The Yomiuri said the Taepodong-2 could fly over Japan and toward Hawaii, but that it would not be able to hit the main islands of Hawaii, which lie about 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers) from the Korean peninsula.

The missile launch could come between July 4 and 8, the paper said. It noted that North Korea had fired its first Taepodong-2 missile on July 4, 2006. Also, July 8 is the anniversary of the 1994 death of North Korea founder Kim Il Sung.

I think its time to slash the unproven missile defense system.

Why didn’t McCain hit him on this during the election? Instead he kept telling us we didn’t have to be “scared” of Obama.

They already know our current president is a coke-snorting, homosexual, Marxist who won’t do a thing. Even if Hawaii gets hit by a nuke, the libtard media will probably say “Hawaii just got wiped off the map, but you are so heroic Obama for swatting that fly”.

Hawaiian’s may soon develop an interest in missile defense shields, Dimocrats or not...

Hey, maybe we could convince Kim Jong Ill to fire one in the direction of Seattle, wake those fools up!

"Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles"

Of course, that's a wild-@ss-guess. PRNK is the most reclusive regime, perhaps ever. If we din't have a clue to what Saddam Hussein's WMD potential was, or that the Soviet Empire would collapse two weeks before it did, we certainly have no idea how far a experimental rocket would actually fly.

North Koreans are ridiculous. They are sending a bomb with a target of Hawaii and they can’t even hit the said target. If we get into a fight with them, we will slaughter them within minutes.

Because McCain threw the election in late September.

If I were an enemy of the United States, NOW is the time I would strike -— with that anti-American black racist Islamist President, a dumb ass liar for a Vice President and a congress dominated by Leftists, black racists and self loathing Jews....

Hours perhaps, weeks for sure, but not minutes. And, certainly not before they kill tens of thousands, or more, South Koreans and many of our soldiers stationed in SK.

I was stationed in South Korea. Don’t underestimate the South Koreans or our guys. They are brutal (in a good way). Just because they don’t do that silly march like the North Koreans can does not mean that they are going to get many killed. I know you were not saying that to be mean or anything, but just wanted to let other FREEPERS know that South Koreans and Americans in South Korea are ready and will have very few casualties (yes I know one casualty is a lot).

Are our forces in South Korea on any sort of elevated alert?

Sure hope they don’t do that when Barry is having his Wednesday Night Cocktail Party, especially if they are in the middle of serving the Kobe Beef to his “guests”.

"Are our forces in South Korea on any sort of elevated alert?"

They are always on a "higher level of alert". And, since the PRNK ended the 50 year armistice, they've increased there preparedness even more. There hasn't really been any calm, or comfort in the area for decades.

I don't know what, if any additional measure we or the South Koreans have taken since this whole business has ratcheted up the last several months.

For all you guys who have spent 13 months in Korea; I wonder if they still have infiltrators coming south with regularity?
