‘If it’s NOT the counterrevolutionary tipping point that you and others are confident of...’

Well, I didn’t say that I was confident it’s all going to succeed. :-) I am sure that it’s more about angry Iranians than it is about candidate A or candidate B. If things return to a status quo, then Iranian President Ahstoleajob and Nobama look like completely neutered idiots, and Israel walks away saying ‘I told you so’ to the rest of the world. I think, no matter how this ends up, Israel wins big.

It really doesn't make a difference which raghead continues Iran down the path to a nuclear weapon. Israel's going to have to nuke them first, anyway.

It is difficult to just "hand" democratic institutions over to a people, when they never fought for them. I really cannot think of any muzzie nation that is ready for that form of government, and I include Afghanistan and Iraq in that assessment. As soon as we leave, they are just going to go back to killing each other until a new strongman emerges in each place.

I believe this thing is outrunning the “candidates”.

Exactly. No one can predict the outcomes of spontaneous revolutions, but there are moments in history where the stars align and change, although unlikely, becomes possible. We heard all the tired arguments of the timid before just as the Soviet Union was collapsing. I'm sure the founding fathers heard them before they signed the declaration.
We can't know what will happen, but fortune smiles upon the brave and there are brave people struggling and dying for a measure of freedom right now in Iran. We Americans have always been the natural allies of people struggling to be free. We should stand with them.

We aren't that I can tell.

Yup. Most American don't know that much about their own politicians, must less difficult-to-prounouce-their-names foreign politicians.

Freepers get it. Mousavi is just another politician to promise anything in order to be in power. But the people on the streets of Iran want regime change. Big time. And they are determined to get it. This has become bigger than Mousavi. He is just a catalyst.

>> I think, no matter how this ends up, Israel wins big.

I hope and pray you’re right.

I care about the freedom-seeking young people in Iran, indeed, all Iranians who aren’t head over heels for that evil theocracy.

But I care a **whole lot more** about Israel.

Win or lose Mousavi is in deep doo doo.

It's a good thing he's ready for martyrdom, because he's going to get it from one side or the other.

What's the diff?

The difference is something called self-determination, and very well worth fighting and dying for.

Could be. John Bolton is making that pretty clear.

The point is the people are aware of the corrupted election and are being denied the president they believe had won. With the number of people protesting, it’s hard for me to believe that NutJob had the votes he claimed to have gotten.

Please watch this video. It shows Iranian police being overwhelmed by protesters:

BBC Video: Iranian Police Run Away from Protesters

Just another reason why BBC reporters were arrested yesterday. Iran may turn very bloody later this week. Corrupt clerics and their bullyboy enforcers are getting desperate.

Diana West is on the John Batchelor show right now.

I was listening. She was difficult to understand. Was her main point that Mousavi really isn't any different than what's in power now? Essentially in agreement with Obama? I think I understood her to say that so far, there isn't any real evidence that the protests are pro-Western way of life?

The following quote is from a Persian Philosophy professor who marched Saturday with his students:

“You can get on any car to go back home. People trust one another now. The woman in the back seat sitting next to me says, ‘It’s no longer about Mousavi or election results. We have suffered for thirty years. We didn’t live a life.’

An old man next to her offers me fresh bread. They tell jokes about the political figures and laugh out loud. They feel victorious. ‘I had waited thirty years for this. Now I feel relieved.’

finally some thoughtfulness on the issue.

Can we get some appropriate capitalization as well?

Just so we don't look like teens?

Been out all day and just came home and just KNEW it had gone beyond the election......it’s NOT going away until one side is defeated.

Very well put.

Ms West is just a typical “smug” liberal journalist.

If the Media didn’t know about the revolution ahead of time, it isn’t important...ha.

Mousaavi said he wanted to talk with the US.
Even the Lib Gergen, is now saying Obozo should say something.

And when the system..whatever system, get so shaken, it just might shake out for the better...these young people may want an Islamic regime, buthey may not want the Islamic regime they have...besides the Iranian economy is a disaster!
