He has commented, he asked Obama to stand with the Iranian citizens. From the article...

Pahlavi appealed to Western leaders, particularly President Barack Obama, to “show solidarity” with Iranians, likening their plight to that of Eastern Europeans during the Soviet era.

“I think any other signal other than this will be a slap in the face of the nation,” Pahlavi said.

Pahlavi appealed for a strong position by President Barack Obama, who has called for reconciliation with Iran after three decades of hostility.

“I would like to take this opportunity and tell the president this is a crucial moment — on behalf of my compatriots and millions who have been turning to the outside world, particularly to this president — to say, don’t let us down.”

“This is about the citizens of a country who have tired of being screwed by thugs for the past 30 years.”

So naive Americans believe. These same people were the one’s that brought about the revolution of ‘79 that put the present regime in power. They are Muslims, and rioting (not demonstrating) burning cars, buses, motorcycles and using Molotov cocktails is what they do.

Wake up, America, these are not your allies, they are your Muslim enemies.

I was questioning an Iraqi co-worker today (he and his family have been here a year) and he was quite adamant that the Iranians were ‘crazy’.

Crazy in that they are fed up with being ruled by Islamists?

I agree with another FReeper that Iran should try to emulate secularist Turkey.

Yes, Persian, not Arab, which is irrelevant because they are Muslims. (The largest Muslim country in the world is not Arab, it is Indonesia).

They are nevertheless Muslims, and it is not Islam they are fighting, however the West’s press misrepresents it, but their particular faction, which they represent with the words “freedom” and “democracy,” nither of which they know the meaning of. But be not deceived, it is just Islam in different garb.

‘Wake up, America, these are not your allies, they are your Muslim enemies.’

I’m naive?? Oh, please. You’re the one being naive here. The revolution of ‘79 was supported by a very small percentage of the Iranian population (that was coincidently armed to the teeth). I have dear friends who grew up in and then fled Iran after the revolution. They’ve all explained how tens of millions of Iranians were being controlled by the heavy hand of a few religious leaders and the armed muscle of about 500,000 people. The people rioting today have nothing to do with the people who took American hostages 30 years ago. Many of the rioters today weren’t even born 30 years ago. If you want to hate Iranians, that’s your business. The people who are rioting today are NOT the people who engineered the revolution of ‘79. Not even close...

‘And you know this from what?Been reading mixed messages what they want.’

What kind of mixed messages have you been reading about? I’m curious. Iran’s domestic economy has been a shambles, and the people have been irate with their president for quite some time for not properly addressing those economic issues. They’re pissed about the rigged election, especially when they found out that 50 cities had turnouts that met or exceeded 100% of possible voters, and that the president won reelection even though no one voted for him. And, a lot of people want to rejoin the outside world. Tehran was once considered the Paris of the Mid East. The revolution of ‘79 was imposed on the country by a heavily armed minority, and the citizens want to go back to a freer existance than what they have now. It’s not one issue that they’re protesting, it’s a wide variety of issues that reached a boiling point after the rigged election results were announced. And, I hope they get what they want.

‘I see wearing of the green for Mousavi.’

Green has become the official color of this protest. He seems to have assumed, or been handed, the role of opposition leader. And, he’s a scum bag. If this turns into another revolution, that country will end up being radically different than even Mousavi imagined. There’s already reports that Iranian clerics are thinking of a way to set up a government without a ‘Supreme Leader’, something which would might been unthinkable a few weeks ago. And, if the country goes on strike and shuts everything down for a few days, then the Iranian government as we know it will be finished (according to a few talking heads, anyway). These are interesting times for them.

“I have dear friends who grew up in and then fled Iran after the revolution.”

My friend, I do not hate anyone. I hold some in contemtp, but hate is an emotion requiring much to much energy to be wasted on people. I also do not go around accusing other people of hating—which others apparently have no problem doing.

I also think it is strange that people believe these riots, are “protests” for freedom, but when those same people do the same thing in Europe, they call them Islamist riots. I’ll believe they really understand what freedom is, and that is what they are seeking when they cease being Muslims.

Just curious. Are your Iranian friends Muslims. I know many Iranians who left Iran around ‘79 were not, or were only nominally Muslims.

Hank
