Old, not spoiled. They don’t even slice it in local shops, right? That’s not fresh. That’s nasty.

The roast beef is all brown, and as dry as the desert. The mayo sits out open all day.

Report it? Not worth it. I just won’t support grossness with my paycheck.

Besides, in my opinion, 3 translucently-thin slices of roast beef do not constitute a sandwich, and every subway i’ve ever been in, the illegal alien waitstaff have a wicked attitude I don’t experience anywhere else. It’s a ripoff for substandard food.

No doubt the company is as crooked and full of mobsters as you say, but still I wonder how a soldier in Afghanistan could properly manage a couple of restaurants back home.

My observation is that both Subway and Quiznos have had a serious decline in quality control in the past few years.

I don’t know how I feel about this one. The Plantiff goes on duty and turns operations over to family who drive it into the ground, franchise executes foreclosure.

Remember the gross singing rat they used?

Was that a rat? I always thought it was a stain of some sort.

I kind of like Firehouse Subs instead of getting the “5 dollar foot long” if you know what I mean.

Last time I went to subway I asked for a 2.50 dollar six inch and the kid behind the counter looked at me like I was on drugs. (I bet he was)

Major medical expenses after eating at Subway or Queerznos?

Wow! Did my Cut-and-Paste not work, LOL! The Paste was from a post to a previous thread! Sorry for the mixup!

Anyone got a working keyboard I could borrow for, like . . .forever?

Seems from the article Subway would have done the same thing no matter where he was. Here’s the meat of story really:
“ Summer sales fell as regulars went on vacation or saved their cash for the nearby State Fair, Travis Brown said. There was not enough cash flow to cover the bills, he said.

Both locations fell behind in rent, with Chris Batie and Travis Brown blaming each other for the problem. Leon Batie and Subway disagree on how much was owed. Subway puts the amount at $13,400, but Batie counters that he has copies of checks showing payments were made but not credited to his account, according to Grant Walsh, Batie’s co-counsel on the case.

Subway’s real estate arm terminated Leon Batie’s leases and sold the stores. “

Fall behind in the rent and bad things happen.

"I'm beginning to think so after hearing a few praise Obama."

As well as a multitude of other BS runarounds, my friend.
The zerO, I'll guess, is only symptomatic of the mess we all find ourselves.

If you've tried making a warranty claim lately on something you'd purchased solely because the product was advertised as having a "5 Year Parts & Labor Unconditional Warranty", you know what I mean.
They got'cha, or, should I say they got your money and now can pound sand.
Beyond ridiculous, outright theft.

"They don't believe in producing a better product, just profit by manipulation and deceit."

Amen, brother.
Even if one has a decent memory, swears "OK, ya got me but NO more"?
The outfit penultimately goes broke, ultimately sells out only to pop-up again with an entirely new name *and* the SOS. Pathetic.

"I don't think I want an MBA anymore."

I've read your thoughts before CK, you don't need a MBA.
The MBAites wouldn't want a honest person, of this I am certain. ;^)

Corporate America can do better than that.
They'd better, or the republic's in a LOT deeper kimchee than most of us are aware.

I'm not saying all of them. But a lot of them. As I can look with my own eyes in my own area and know their names and their legal troubles--not a legend. And the part about the 9/12 party was witnessed by a customer that was not only a former GI, but an acquaintance of mine.

And the Iranian owners put up all kinds of flags, too.

Same deal with HOP franchise in same area. A few weeks before 9/11, the Egyptian manager/owner pulled his kids out of school and left the country. Didn't even make his last payroll.

Also are often hotel managers.

Muslims have different habits of entrepreneurship in the US--they don't like borrowing money through banks, but prefer to borrow from family members to start businesses. They need a lot of legal help for that, and your local corporate attorneys know who and where they are.

Geno's famous Philly cheese steak----Geno's is open 24/7.

The ingredients are simple and never greasy----thinly sliced rib-eye steak, melted cheese, oven-fresh baked bread and delicately grilled onions. Awaiting your piping hot sandwich on the counter outside are ketchup, mustard, relish and Joe's choice hot sauce. A Word of Warning! Be prepared and know how to order, because the service is fast and the line keeps moving. For example, on a cheese steak with onions specify which kind of cheese you'd like (Provolone, American or Cheese Whiz). By the time you have given your order, your money will be taken and your sandwich will be out the window nice and hot! At the next window you can pick up your soda, fries and coffee.

The few Subways I’ve been in always reek of disinfectant, as does the bread (probably picks it up out of the air).

If you like eating a sandwich that tastes like it’s been doused in Chlorox I guess it’s ok, but if not....

But according to this:

It did not go well. Summer sales fell as regulars went on vacation or saved their cash for the nearby State Fair, Travis Brown said. There was not enough cash flow to cover the bills, he said. Both locations fell behind in rent, with Chris Batie and Travis Brown blaming each other for the problem. Leon Batie and Subway disagree on how much was owed. Subway puts the amount at $13,400, but Batie counters that he has copies of checks showing payments were made but not credited to his account, according to Grant Walsh, Batie's co-counsel on the case.

it appears as if this was a business decision and not because he was serving his country. But I do agree with what others have said, Subway sucks and they cheat you on the meat.

I am leery of any of those reports, honestly. I heard from people first and secondhand who “saw” the owner of our subway “dancing in the parking lot” with his workers and speaking Arabic. Then I read internet reports about the same thing supposedly happening in a lot of different towns, always at a Subway. It turns out that the guy who owned the restaurant was actually Indian and nothing of the sort happened.

I guess you should be leery of these stories. You have no way of knowing who you're talking to on the net. I believe the stories I told you, I have more than second-hand accounts to go with. And they wouldn't have been speaking Arabic at Subway, it was Farsi. The IHOP guy spoke Arabic, I guess. When your employees show up on Friday for their checks, only to find out that your boss left the country--

Fast food joints and hotel businesses also provide good cover for comings and goings of strangers, a good place for temporary employment.

Local lawyers are good sources for who owns what.

To: Still Thinking

“What was the immediate cause of the confrontation? “

It was an extremely busy lunch hour, in fact it was a record sales day for me. This guy came in while the employees, mostly young kids, but not all, were very busy.

He went out of his way to make one young woman begin cry...actually sobbing. He also hurled insults on other employees and demanded I stop work to show him paperwork because “he was a busy man and had other stores to inspect.”

You have to understand, this was about the time the company started in earnest trying to bully me to sell my stores to a company rep at a loss. When I declined, the harassment began.

They called the IRS and state tax depts and told them I was underreporting income when I wasn’t in order to get the tax man after me too.

I had just had enough.

I used to go to Philly all the time to see a Phillies game and then afterward my friends and I would go to Genos for one of these pieces of art... I now live in Arizona and am slobbering all over myself looking at this picture. I think I even feel a tear coming...

Go to Publix supermarket for a good delli sandwich. I like the one called The Ultimate, with Boars Head meats.
