History repeats itself. Most of these Jews are descendents of European Jews who for the most part didn't protect themselves from the Nazis.

I seriously doubt that, the largest waves of Jewish immigration were in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Though you may have contempt for the victims, the majority of German Jews were able to get out of the country, and most who couldn't were unable because no nation would have them. I don't see how that's suicidal.

I am not sure that is true on multiple accounts.

1. Most US Jewish immigration was pre-war.

2. Jews fought back rather dramatically in Europe. The entire “march quietly to the death” is complete fiction. In Poland and much of Eastern Europe the real resistance had ample Jewish representation. The Warsaw Ghetto, for example, held out longer than the nation of France.

I am technically an American Jew (American parents), although I was born and raised in Israel (and will eventually return, as it is my real home).

I am a bit on the “outside” but I get the impression that American Jews like the idea of Israel, want to visit, but are not particularly connected to it.

Because otherwise you are missing the point. American Jews do not feel threatened. Israeli Jews do.

People posting about similarities to the Holocaust and ‘Jews walking to the showers’ should be aware that your comments border on blaming the victim and are very hurtful to Jewish posters. And they are historically innacurate. The Holocaust happened prior to the establishment of the State of Israel. Many, many Jews tried to get out , but had nowhere to go.

What is missing from the American Jewish community is a sense of ‘I am my brothers’ keeper’.

Most American Jews were here at least one generation prior to WWII.

Very few since then other than some Holocaust survivors and Israelis.

Sometimes one can wonder why they did not fight back against the genocide so much....we keyboarders all have so much balls here..lol /s

but I think truly they just never figured such cultured old civilization peoples like Germans, Austrians, Poles, French, Italians and Czechs could actually carry out such a monstrous act.

pretty horrifying and nearly futile, when I think about possible violence here and being no stranger to it I get a deep gnawing fear for my little children...how could I protect them in a Bosnia style conflict...scary let me tell ya
