Hi poobear and anyone else - I was not being facetious, BTW. I have long wondered how to handle such situations. So any advice would be appreciated - off the thread if this is bothering anyone here.

I’ve heard it often that we shouldn’t judge. Typically from liberals, but also from those with a religious background.

How are we supposed to differentiate between judging our own behavior, but not that of others? For example, my sister. Say she calls and is moving in for the 3rd time with some guy she barely knows. This is a true example. If one is truly at the point where they are not judging, are you able to not see what she is doing at all? Because I’m not there and it’s stressful. I’d like to be there. I cannot find it in me to say it’s wrong for me, but great for her. Her behavior hasn’t increased her happiness, that’s for sure. To even think it is fine would compromise my values. Or would it just involve not saying/writing anything, but still thinking there is right and wrong? I would find that a little hypocritical to be doing, though.

So I’m not clear on HOW to implement not judging.

Because they are two different things. My Brother-In-Law’s sister had anal cancer. It is pretty rare.

The Catholic Church has a wonderful way to ease us into the next life: pure, clean, and forgiven.

It was Oscar Wilde who said: “I could never live as a Catholic, but I want to die as one.”

.

She had a rough time fighting cancer

Older people should be aware of Obama’s prescription instead of treatment of surgery that might save their lives:

“Just take a painkiller!”

I'll split that hair: She couldn't maintain your morals. Unless you were a close and personal confidante of hers, I doubt you know what her morals were. Just saying.

RIP, Farrah. Loved you in Logan's Run.

Perhaps you should simply save your judgment for a more appropriate time. Now is not the time. Now is a time for mourning and remembrance. Just because you're in an open forum doesn't mean you shouldn't check yourself when speaking of the recently dead.

Speaking of Logan’s Run, I remember when the movie came out, it was just as Charlie’s Angels was taking off, and they tried to make it look like she had a major role in the film to get more box office.

I was pretty young when it came out, but I do remember that it was kind of controversial—the fact that she was this up-and-coming superstar, and yet in the movie she was killed. Just goes to show how many folks out there think movies are produced in a matter of days, not months or even years.

Well, cb where do I begin or end on this matter.

Coming from my background I always rely on a little advice from my upbringing.

“Judge not lest ye be judged.”

“Let the first who is without sin cast the first stone”

“For ALL have come short of the Glory of G_d”

“Don't cast your pearls before swine”

Oh, and the the proverbial,

“Pray for your enemies”

Folks ALL have sin or have come short. The Conservative movement is always judged because of the perception that we do not tolerate immoral behavior. It is just the opposite. We forgive and try to correct our shortcomings. We'll never be perfect, that's a given!

Thanks for your post.

A friend of mine was an art major at UT when she was there. This was before the lion mane hair cut, but he said she was as beautiful in person as on television. This made her stand out particularly in an art department, which tends towards women who don’t shave under their arms or their legs.

Farrah, I am happy that your struggle is over and you hurt no more.RIP. Be sure and lookup my sister in Heaven and have a great time.

30 years ago, the showing of her nipples on the poster was very risque!

Now it seems almost puritanical when compared to what we are subjected to everyday in this day and age.

I’ve heard it often that we shouldn’t judge

Our pastor speaks of this often. His message on this from the book of Titus. Here are my notes on the topic. The Readers Digest version is that we are to speak in love to those who are jumping into sin. We are to tell them truth according to His Word. Here are the notes that I took during the Message - I hope some of it is helpful:

Speak these things (vs 1-8) ~ don't ignore the 800 lb gorilla ~ teach the doctrine and do it in love. If one does not change then rebuke with authority.

God is faithful to forgive & restore when we fall into sin. *Note the word fall.

Jumping into sin is different. Ex: A career criminal who refuses to be taken alive will pay the ultimate price - death.

Romans 2:4 - The goodness/kindness of the Lord who deads up to repentence. God gives us punishment to teach/show us direction - just like a parent does.

The Lord, at times, will bless those who don't really deserve it - however what is it that they are learning? The aren't growing closer to Him.

Pressure - the feeling just before we jump into sin. God won't stop us (free will) but he will nudge you - or send a brother/sister to you at just the right time.

Unfavorable Outcome - don't repeat mistakes - learn from them. His grace reminds us of the consequence of the last time we did it.

If you choose to continue to jump into sin, you are cheapening His grace. Just because He chose not to punish you the first 10 times you did something doesn't mean you don't/didn't deserve it.

We always hurt someone else when we sin ~ we may not see it right away but it is happening.

The Lord can take away one's appetite for sin. His grace is the reason - By His grace we are healed.

He will change our attitudes when "Me" ceases to become #1.

He will change our actions when we begin to look for others to bless.

He will change our agenda when we ask each and every morning, "Lord, what do you want me to do today?"

Farrah didn’t convert. She was born Catholic and has indicated in interviews when she was at the height of her fame that she attends Mass regularly. Farrah also said that she received complimentary letters from priests and nuns about her poster.

And also because, as Richard Pryor said, "There ain't no n-----s in it", because "white folks ain't plannin' for us to be here."

RE: “Because they are two different things. My Brother-In-Law’s sister had anal cancer. It is pretty rare.”

*********

It is pretty rare indeed. Even MORE rare is cancer starting in the appendix — also super difficult to treat and/or cure. My young cousin died of it at age 47 last year after a valiant fight for over two years. First they thought she had ovarian cancer but no, it was the appendix and it spread around to colon and ovaries, everywhere. So sad, and at the end she looked absolutely awful — every time I thought about Farrah’s situation I remembered my cousin —

Like my cousin, I’m sure Farrah was in a virtual coma for weeks before the end — that’s how it goes — there is a pattern per the hospice nurses my cousin had 24/7 at home for many weeks.

RIP Farrah -—
