I saw him at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk VA in 1982. Packed house [3,000] with about 250 high donors of Virginia Opera sitting on stage. Pav and grand piano and player.

He sang one song with his back to the audience facing the donors. From the auditorium, you could hardly tell he had turned around. It was pretty amazing.

Saw Domingo in Tosca at the Met. Outstanding. Saw Cararras in The Force of Destiny at the Met in 1981.

Recently, saw Netrebko and Villazon at the Met in Rigoletto. Anyway, I wouldn't trade my interest in this kind of music for nearly anything.

This squeaking and jumping around that MJackson did never appealed to me at all.

I had the good fortune hear Pavarotti at an outdoor concert in the UK. Magnificent. My music appreciation is somewhat eclectic, and I very much enjoyed Michael Jackson’s artistic talents through the mid-1980’s.

Wow - I can imagine what it was like to be in the audience for those performances!

OTOH, “squeaking and jumping around” LOL! But I liked MJ also. At least for a while I did.
