Oliver Stone: 'Reagan Was a Dumb Son of a Bitch' Who Spawned Bush By Brent Baker Created 2009-06-27 02:14 Film producer/director Oliver Stone [1], a far-left promoter of conspiracies who is working on a sequel to his 1987 'Wall Street' movie, declared on Friday night's edition of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher that “Reagan was a dumb son of a bitch” and “I really think George W is dumber” and so, after producing movies on the CIA conspiracy to murder President Kennedy and a dark look at President Nixon, he won't create a movie on Ronald Reagan because “by doing the W movie I kind of put all my efforts behind dumbness.”

Stone, who earlier in the pre-taped show made up of three one-on-one interviews Maher conducted (other two were with Cameron Diaz and Billy Bob Thornton) characterized President Obama as no better than Bush (“a sneak Bush administration with different words”), also asserted: “I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan and I think Reagan's the father of Bush. There's sort of a very strong line.” Whatever that means.

From the June 26 program, after Maher asked why Stone, who did films on JFK, Nixon and Bush, had not done a movie on Reagan:

OLIVER STONE: Nixon always said Reagan was a dumb son of a bitch and, you know, I think that he was [audience applause]. And I think, I really think George W is dumber [more audience laughter and applause].

BILL MAHER: Definitely

STONE: I do think that by doing the W movie I kind of put all my efforts behind dumbness and I don't want to go back there because, you know, I'm not the Farrelly brothers. But I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan and I think Reagan's the father of Bush. There's sort of a very strong line....

Stone is no fool no doubt he hates Conservatives, but he found out that making crappy movies like “W” came in #129 for 2008 and only took in $29.5 million.
He can't even get people to pirate it.

Isn’t it amazing how everyone who has ever disagreed with a liberal is “stupid?” Liberals are children who never grew up.

The left libs’ IQ test is entirely based upon one thing: ones acceptance of Marxism. Accepting Marxism means you are brilliant even if you are a drooling nose picker, while failing to accept Marxism means you are a low grade moron even if you are a rocket scientist...

“Liberals” have certainly done their best to wreck this country over the years. They get no sympathy from me.

"I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan ... "

Okay, I’m scratching my head on this one.

My thoughts exactly. I believe Stone's affinity for conspiracy theories is actually a deep seated paranoia caused by massive, long-term, drug abuse.

You are correct, Nixon was clearly more aligned to the Ford/Rockefeller wing, and had little to do with the Goldwater/Reagan wing.

Stone really knows nothing at all about politics. He is so ignorant of it it shows, he has no intellectual curiosity about politics, and he does not have the cognitive ability to process the information he has already been exposed to. Perhaps it is the decades of drug abuse. Or maybe Stone is just not that intelligent.

I think his calling other people "dunb" is projection.

Okay, I’m scratching my head on this one.

I believe your premise is faulty. Meaning, Stone actually is lucid

Your confusion is based on a response to a sane person, not Stone.

Of course, "Nixon is the father of Reagan..." only in the drug addled brain of Stone. He said it, so it must be true.........just ask Maher

One of the BIG problems with liberal is that they believe their own hype! Stone really believes most Americans hate Reagan and Bush as much as he does...Producing stupid movies that bash Bush should be wildly popular...When they are not then the Americans are just to stupid to get it..Hay Stone could it be the fact that your movies are stupid?

I don’t know who Oliver Stone is. His name sounds like a pseudonym. Is it?

Watch for Oliver Stone’s upcoming autobiography - “The Man Without a Clue”.

Stone is a dull bulb next to Reagan. Anyone who thinks Reagan is dumb doesn’t have a clue. Probably the smartest president policy-wise in our nation’s history.

Maher is a failed comedian, a failed actor, who found a niche and like Keith Olberman believes that because he reads aloud from things others write for him it makes him seem intelligent.

You can add BH0 to that list.

And yet both of them ran rings around you, Ollie. What does that say about YOU? IIRC, you didn’t even last a year at Yale before you dropped out. GWB has a degree from there AND an MBA from Harvard—not exactly a sheepskin that’s handed out to dummies.

Maher likes to call himself a libertarian. It makes me shutter. I can’t stand leftists who don’t want to be called Dems but haven’t discovered the Green Party.

Sounds like half the Paulbots who infested this place last year.

Why oh why can’t we just let really smart people like Oliver Stone and Bill Maher run the country ... surely they will go down in history as brave, smart geniuses.

So if Reagan was dumb, and he utterly trounced both the Democrats and the Soviet Union, what Oliver Stone is saying is that the Democrats and communists are *very* dumb indeed.
