"And Americans (at least in MN) don't like folks who use the Governorship primarily as a stepping stone to DC."

I don't think that any fair minded person would label someone as an opportunist if they simply finished the term that they were elected to and then ran for higher office some two years later.

I think if Palin would have stood for reelection, and then announced just a few months after her second term had started that she was a candidate for President, that would have soured many people in her state, and rightfully so.

I really don't understand her logic. It seems likely that she doesn't have any more political aspirations. And, given what she and her family have been through the last year, I can't say that I blame her.

Who knows what was coming for the woman to handle.

I trust her judgement. She is who she is - no matter if governor or not. And, I like who she is.

All the talk of quitter coming from “conservatives”. You would think the libs were posting here.

I didn't mean to compare Sarah Palin to Mark Dayton. Mr Dayton was damn near campaigning for a DC office when he was running for Governor. MN elected Jesse Ventura in part because it was clear Jesse would pay attention to MN. I've no doubt that Sarah would NOT step down without good reason.

The point I was trying so poorly to make is that it is not so cut and dried that folks must follow through on a full elected term. If the Alaskan ankle-biters were getting in the way of the Governor doing her job, the Alaskan voters would know better than you and I, and will make the judgement. Right now, I'm leaving it up to them.
