Good economic times seem far-fetched with a Democrat congress and a socialist Kenyan running things, but I suppose the Republicans could retake the Congress, get things back on track, and watch as the Kenyan takes the credit.

Japan has been in recession/depression for 19 years now, under much the same economic policies as Obama is instituting. It's unlikely that a Republican Congress, all on it's own, can make the kinds of changes than need to be made. In fact, it's unlikely that a Republican President and Republican Congress can make the changes, unless there is someone out there with Reagan-like charisma. Which I don't see. Expect a game of political "musical chairs" every 2-4 year for the next 20 years. Nobody has the fortitude to actually fix the problems. Things will not get back "on track" any time soon.
