It wasn’t the word, it was his groveling afterwards that killed him.

Agreed, but I think the right choice would have been to either offer no endorsement or endorse Mitt in hopes that he could narrow the gap enough for somebody else to get in the race. McCain was the clear front-runner after New Hampshire and pretty much locked things up by South Carolina.

It was clear that Huckabee could never raise the funds necessary to compete effectively and, had Mitt Romney led the ticket to defeat in 2008, we wouldn't be seeing him as a contender in 2012.

Yeah, I know it is 20-20 hindsight, but I still can't think of anytime when it is wise politics to beat up on the distant second runner-up when the clear front runner is so much worse. For all his flaws, Mitt at least tried to warn us about McCain.

"I've found no one listens," DeMint said ...

I've mused here and elsewhere that giving Congress the silent treatment would positively unnerve them. No more angry calls, no calls of support. "No one listens" is exactly right. Money talks, bullshit walks.

Sanford would be wise to disappear from politics for at least two years, show he has really repented and maybe comeback to challenge prissy Lindsay Graham for the senate seat in five years.

Three years is simply just not enough time to forgive and forget such a betrayal on a presidential ticket.

Not to mention...the guy is a bore...I find nothing “inspiring” about him...even when he speaks publically he bores me.

Just so you know, Senator DeMint also has nice things to say about RINO Mitt Romney. When too many actual conservatives continue to support RINO Mitt Romney as well as continue to support many other RINOs, at each and every political level, then I will continue to be profoundly concerned about the long-term future of “U.S. conservatism”! I, also, seriously doubt that Sarah Palin is going to endorse any of Senator McCain’s conservative ‘10 GOP Primary opponents for McCain’s U.S. Senate seat.

Huckabee was the natural choice for Hunter over the others. Even though he was obviously flawed. He adopted Hunter’s policy on re-industrialization, deporting illegals, and telling China to stuff it. How sincere was/is Huck on those? We’ll find out, cause I’m betting he runs again.

But I know I trust Huck about as much as I do Mitt and McCain. I will be quite happy if they do not run again.

I’ll be elated if the choices are Palin, Hunter, DeMint, and Pence.

Whether anyone within his party -- particularly its leaders like former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty -- buys what DeMint is selling remains to be seen.

I know that's the article's author speaking, not DeMint, but "leaders"? Gov. Greenjeans Pawlenty's a non-starter. And as for Romney, of course he'll buy it if it suits his purposes. Doesn't mean he'll believe it.

I could add others to your list like Bobby Jindal and Eric Cantor, but I would prefer not to see the pack to crowded or we'll end up with the guy whose turn it is.

Both Mitt and Huck can argue that they were second runner-up, although I think Mitt has the better case since he was clearly #2 to McCain in delegates and votes when he dropped out and Huck couldn't even close the gap in votes with more than a solid month as the sole alternative to McCain.

(Yeah, I'm not counting Ron Paul, because I don't think he was ever a serious candidate).

I think both Jindal and Cantor come across as wimps. Especially Cantor, especially when he was pushing the first Crap Sandwich bailout.

Hunter has more knowledge and wisdom of geopolitics and military matters than a dozen of each. But either will make a fine VP under Hunter’s tutelage.

I think America would go for a bore who is not a rockstar like Obama /s, and who is competent. I think Americans will be desperately looking for competence in the next election.

“”I will go after Democrats and I will shame Republicans,” promised DeMint.”

That’s right. No more Mr. Niceguy, and that should be the attitude from each and every representative with an ‘R’ beside his/her name, or get the “H” out of the Party and go bugger off to the Leftist Dems where they belong.

There is no such thing as reaching across the aisle to the Democrats unless there’s a two by four in that hand to smack some sense if possible into the Leftist head.

There is no such a thing as negotiating with a Leftist/Democrat as they lie like “H”, therefore no point in doing so when one cannot trust anything the bastards say.

The only good Leftist is one that is out of office, and out of sight with their mouths taped shut.

Kick all Leftist RINO’s out of the Republican Party, and unify on a Conservative platform...that is all.
