Bolivian leader Evo Morales has accused the US military of being behind the coup in Honduras, saying the "imperial structure remains in force", despite President Barack Obama's inauguration.
"I have first-hand information that the empire, through the US Southern Command, made the coup d'etat in Honduras," President Morales said during a visit to the Uruguayan capital Montevideo.
The coup that saw Honduran President Manuel Zelaya swept up by the military on June 28 in his pajamas and expelled from the country "is an aggression, a provocation of the empire," he said.
"Maybe I do not know Obama, but the imperial structure remains in force."

Too bad Brazil took such a swing to the Left. While Brazil is not particularly friendly with THugo and his Castro-Ortega-Morales partners, it remains to be seen what they would do if THugo and Evil invaded Honduras.
Brazil has a formidable military with a nuclear-powered navy, and US-trained fighter and bomber pilots.

I wonder how many people who bother to read the news -- as opposed to only listen to or watch news reports -- know:-- Zelaya was plotting a long-term, possibly lifetime, takeover of the Honduran government through illegally changing the Honduran Constitution.
-- Zelaya had personally led a mob attack on a military facility to steal phony "referendum" ballots that had been printed by the Venezuelan government.
-- Weeks earlier, in an attempt to intimidate the Honduran attorney general -- as reported by The Wall Street Journal's Mary Anastasia O'Grady, one of the only journalists in the world who regularly reports the whole story about Honduras -- "some 100 agitators, wielding machetes, descended on the attorney general's office. 'We have come to defend this country's second founding,' the group's leader reportedly said. 'If we are denied it, we will resort to national insurrection.'"
-- No member of the military has assumed a position of power as a result of the "military coup."
-- Zelaya's own party, the Liberal Party, supported his removal from office and deportation from Honduras.

He has just about worn out his kneepads groveling and trying to distance himself from his adopted country, and yet the dictators whose love he so desperately seeks just won’t reciprocate and fall into his arms. He hasn’t done enough to weaken and destroy us yet, so I guess he’ll just have to work harder.

The deposed President of Honduras Manuel Zelaya issued an ultimatum to the government of Roberto Micheletti for its return this week in power, under threat of further actions and failed to consider the dialogue that promotes Costa Rica.
“Of that return, return,” said the deposed president this afternoon on his arrival in Guatemala, where he was received by Vice President Rafael Espada.
“We give an ultimatum to the coup regime that by the next meeting to be held this week in San Jose, Costa Rica, to meet the specific mandates of international organizations and the constitution of Honduras that require their immediate return, sued Zelaya, to read out a statement hours before the site of its embassy in Managua.
He stated there would be “an unsuccessful mediation” which began on Thursday at the behest of the president of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias, and “proceed with other measures,” he warned.
“This week is the deadline for this government to leave the repressive power,” he said before adding that it reserves the right to promote other activities to return to the Honduran presidency if Arias failed to remit the charge through dialogue.
If does not work “there are other forms of action and we are arranging for my return to the country at any cost,” Zelaya warned.
He assured that he is willing to return to anywhere in the country, “Colon, Olancho, Atlántida, Santa Barbara, Francisco Morazán, Cortes,” among others.
Arias mediation “should not extend more than 48 hours, while the mediator extended to 72 hours” with no solutions in sight, he said.
According to La Prensa of Nicaragua, the former chief executive “declined to specify what ‘other’ was said to announce later and simply explain that the Honduran Constitution establishes the right of the people to revolt and used to call people to maintain pressure on the streets, until we return the rule of law.

Exactly who is Zelaya to be issuing “ultimatums?” It’s ridiculous for him to say something like that.
Also, I think it’s interesting that neither Zelaya nor any of his followers are even trying to hide Chavez’ role in this now.
