NYC keeps ahead of the curve, invests $1 million into typewriters
Endgadet ^ | Jul 14th 2009 | Ross Miller

When we look upon the typewriter, we tend to think of it as a somewhat romantic, antiquated technology for the English major in us to write that great mystery novel we've been toying with -- not something we'd imagine anyone would still be using in a professional setting. Unfortunately for New York's boys in blue, that's exactly the situation they find themselves in. According to NY Post, the city has plunked down $982,269 in a contract with New Jersey-based Swintec to provide thousands of new manual electric typewriters bound for NYPD offices over the next three years, with another $99,570 going to a company for maintaining the current lineup. While arrest reports have thankfully gone the way of computers, property and evidence vouchers continue to be written up out the old fashioned way, with officers complaining about having to seek out ribbons when they (often) run dry. In some way, it's kind of funny... but mostly, it's just sad.

You think I owe YOU an apology for YOUR poor reading comprehension?

Get real...

This is my ORIGINAL post, which led you to believe I gave a "blanket statement" in favor of killing everyone opposed to Government.

" The ONLY process rioters are entitled to can be accomplished with a "point and click device" called a firearm. Rioters should be SHOT ON SIGHT.

Perhaps you should try reading more slowly -- point to the words so you don't miss any....

I read it just fine, and with that statement, your government stormtroopers would have done a great job of quelling the Revolution, hence my “Just like 1776” comment.

It’s not my reading comprehension that sucks, your writing sucks. If you meant what you said in follow up posts, it certainly wasn’t put in the original comment that I replied to, so yeah, you DO owe me an apology, now two, for being a jerk.

Nice (NOT!) to see people like you don’t give a damn about liberty. Why bother posting on a conservative website if you think it’s cool for government troops to mow down the populace with their guns? You must have really cheered about Pol Pot, etc. He did a great job of killing the masses. How about those Iranians trying to fight that totalitarian regime? Yeah, kill all the roters, huh?

Sick.

Okay....You've convinced me..
Your problem isn't merely reading comprehension - you're really a certifiable fool.....or worse.

My last post to you on this subject - since arguing with a fool leads nowhere interesting.

Probably for forms with carbon copies.

Carbon copies? Wouldn't it be easier to just mimeograph the extra copies?

LOL

... declaritive sentance...? It was a free double, a gift from me to you.

Oh God, the one time in my entire life that I DON'T use the spell checker and you're all over me like a cheap rug. You've got to have nerves of steel and a lot of guts to correct anyone's English on this forum.

Quel embarrassment! You're never too old to learn.

Thank you Travis for you polite and well written riposte.

I’m sending you a few apostrophes and a free shift key in gratitude.

Use them in good health.

I'll promise to be nicer if you'll promise to be less of a fargin hypocrite. Deal?

And what's up with the lousy punctuation in your post when you are ragging on me for punctuation? Your grammar could use some polishing, too!

LMAO!

When you attack others like this, "I’m surprised how many poor typists, writers, spellers there are out there that don’t know how to use the SHIFT KEY!, you fully deserve to have others point out your shortcomings. You tried to play High & Mighty Mother Superior Grammar Nazi, and are burning yourself, hypocrite.

Geez, even your sentence I quoted shows poor grammar! LMAO!

"When there are no other options beyond living as a slave or taking up arms, what then?"

Any Dictionary would explain the difference between a "rioter" and a "revolutionist"...

Granted, both stand to be shot by the "authorities" - but one will die the death of a thief and the other a "patriot" to his cause...

There is a difference...
Some in this forum possess only a hammer, therefore everything looks like a nail.

Gee, who’s the nasty “Grammar Nazi” now?

I believe that would be you.

Have a nice day.

Nope, not me. I’m just showing your disgusting and stupid hypocrisy.

You can’t go telling people they are stupid for lousy grammar when you have lousy grammar yourself, hypocrite. I never claimed to be superior, that was you, and are now shown to be a fool for doing so.

Have a great weekend!

It’s fascinating how incredibly rude, nasty and petty you are.

Are you off your meds or are you on crack?

Are you confined in an institution somewhere?

You are just plain bizarre.

Looks, toots, it's YOU who is disgusting in your hypocrisy here. Need i remind you that YOU are the one who said

I’m surprised how many poor typists, writers, spellers there are out there that don’t know how to use the SHIFT KEY!

Many also don’t seem to know about those mysterious things called paragraphs.

I think poor writing also seems to go along with poor and emotionally hysterical , illogical thinking.

It's incredible how rude and nasty you were with the initial post you made, trying to claim you are all superior to anyone who makes a typo or misses a shift key, when you are very often guilty of that crap yourself. Who the hell do you think you are? Why are YOU off your meds? Who made you the damn Grammar King of FR?

That kind of sickening hypocrisy is totally bizarre. Your mean-spirited attitude against regular posters is unhealthy, and I hope you'll stop thinking you are better than the average FR poster, because you've clearly demonstrated with your weak grammar skills that you are clearly NOT an above average poster here, either in content or grammar.

How about you stop being a grammar nazi and thinking you are all superior, because demonstrably, you aren't. Got it?

If Dan Rather had used a typewriter, he’d still have a job.
