Conspiracy theories often flourish in the wake of traumatic or game-changing events – the Sept. 11 attacks, the moon landing, the Kennedy assassination – and the election of America's first black president has been no exception.
Almost as soon as Barack Obama emerged as a serious candidate for the presidency, rumors about whether or not he is really an American, and thus eligible for the presidency, began popping up online. In response, the Obama campaign posted his birth certificate (here it is) showing that Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.
But that did not quiet the skeptics, a group that has been come to be known as the "birthers." If anything, it encouraged them. They argued that the birth certificate is a fake, and that Mr. Obama is not the "natural born citizen" he claims to be. Mr. Obama, many birthers say, was actually born in Kenya, though there are a number of theories that fall under the birther umbrella.
The din eventually got loud enough that some reputable organizations checked out the birthers' claims – and they found no evidence to support them. In fact, there was overwhelming evidence against such claims, including Mr. Obama's 1961 birth announcement, printed in two Hawaii newspapers. Here's one detailed investigation, and here's another.

$10 and a request from Presidente OBroma to Hawaii to release the longform birth certificate, and it all ends. The majority of us “Birthers” are actually rational, constitution and American loving patriots who don’t have a race hating bone in our bodies.

This could be a win - win for CBS. They should bring back Dan Rather and do a show on the Kenyan Imposter’s birth certificate. Then, the next day, someone on FR will prove the document is a fake!

Why do Obama’s supporters keep referring to that computer-generated printout as a “Birth Certificate”? Why can’t the POTUS just release his real birth certificate if he has nothing to hide?

Kenyan President, who began his political career in the home of domestic terrorist, had a proud racist as a spiritual advisor, campaigned openly about redistributing wealth and called police stupid on national TV from the White House.
I guess I’m a birther too, although I suspect Obama might not be a natural born citizen, I am more interested in why he has retained legal counsels to actively resist the release of his birth certificate. If it is because he isn’t a natural born citizen then he should vacate the office. If he has other reasons and he thinks those reasons are relevant to some unknown, undisclosed issue about him, his popularity, or his eligibility, then we deserve to know what he thinks is so damning.
Think about it this way. If he thinks it is important enough to pay lawyers a million dollars to keep secret, it could compromise his Presidency if someone uses that information to blackmail him into making a decision contrary to his Oath of Office. (Okay, I know he’s made a lot of those decisions already.) Still, for a man who ran on a platform of transparency he’s got a lot of secrets he’ll pay lots of money to keep secret.
Since "it all" amounts to "some of Obama's opponents making themselves look like idiots", why on Earth would he ever want it to end?

Go back to 9/12/01 and tell the first person you met that in 7 years the nation would elect a muslim to the presidency. We are a nation with a death wish.
