House Democrats splinter over health care
updated 1 hour, 5 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Democrats split sharply over the issue of health care reform Friday as negotiations between a committee chairman and party conservatives broke down.

A leader of the party's conservative faction in turn declared that the party's internal negotiations over health care had failed and warned the party leadership not to ram the current version of the health care bill through by circumventing the traditional legislative process.

The escalating public dissension within the ranks of House Democrats raised new questions about the bill's prospects.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman said on Capitol Hill that he is willing to keep talking with members of the Blue Dog coalition, an influential group of fiscal conservatives, but also made clear that he intends to move forward with the legislation.

Waxman, a California Democrat, indicated that he would bypass a committee vote if necessary and bring the bill directly to the House floor for a final vote.

"We're not going to let [the conservatives] empower the Republicans. I don't see any other alternative," he said.

Waxman's is one of three House committees that is supposed to clear the health care bill; the other two have already done so.

Arkansas Rep. Mike Ross, a key member of the Blue Dog coalition, predicted that the bill would fail if Waxman circumvented the committee.

"I think it would be a huge mistake if they removed the bill from our committee of jurisdiction and simply [took] it to the House floor," he said.

"We're not empowering Republicans," he insisted. "We're trying to save this bill and save our party."

Hehehe...the radical leftists apparently can't hunt...but the Blue Dogs can. LOL!

The DNC deserves every bit of this and a whole lot more.

Here is a link to the full House Democrat Health Care Plan in PDF. In Section 1233 E & F, pages 426-433, you find the part about mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65 years of age. A lot more provisions now being documented at that site.

Also, here's a large image of the Democratic (Obama) Health Plan chart-another Obama empty promise. This is the one the House democrats are censuring. Email these links or the image to everyone you know.

Obama and all those pushing his radical agenda are abject marxist ideologues. Their "fundamental; change" is nothing more than a destruction of the American free market and fundamental republican principle.

If Pelosi gives in to the Blue Dogs, she loses the Yellow Dogs.

You see where Democrat Rep. Charlie Melancon (La.) today called Dem committee chair Waxman a liar? “I’ve been lied to,” Melancon said.

Roll Call, a Capitol Hill daily newspaper, reported Friday: “Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-La.), a Blue Dog co-chairman and Energy and Commerce member, said he had to walk out of the earlier meeting with Waxman ‘to keep from blowing up at him.’ ‘I’ve been lied to,’ Melancon said. ‘I’ve not had legitimate negotiations. ...They’ve accused us of sabotaging health care. We are not. Our job as legislators (is) to try to perfect legislation. And this one needs a lot of perfecting.’”

“Mr. Waxman has decided to sever discussions with the Blue Dogs who are trying to make this bill work for America,” Melancon said, according to The Hill, another Capitol Hill daily.

The Hill left no question that Melancon was directing his comments directly at Waxman, reporting that “Blue Dogs angrily stormed out of a negotiating session, with one Blue Dog (Melancon) denouncing Waxman as having lied to them about agreeing to the inclusion of a independent commission to examine and recommend Medicare rates.”

"We're not empowering Republicans," he insisted. "We're trying to save this bill and save our party."

This statement is BS. I don't want them to "save" the bill, I want them to kill it and any other National Health bill that comes up. We don't need to ruin the best health care in the world with nationalized government run health care.
