lol/we can bet he is hearing a 'chorus' of discontent with this idea. That said; it 'appears' he has accepted. Maybe he intends to make this a 'teaching moment'; and stick to his guns. . .so to speak.

IMHO, once a chip, always a chip.
It seems to me that any police audios or videos are considered official "documents", i.e., public records. An exception may be that a tape is part of a law suit or trial and may be temporarily sequestered by judicial order. But that's not the case here....yet.
Any official considering withholding public records from public view may not relish some citizens nudging them with a Freedom of Information Act "order to produce" in their hot little hands.

From now on, we all need to change our vocabulary. If government money is involved, we all need to start using the word “TAXPAYERS” instead of using the word Government.
Instead of saying “He works for the government”, we say “He works for the taxpayers.”
Instead of saying “Government Grants”, we say “Grants funded by Taxpayers”.
Instead of saying “She’s living off the government”, we say “She’s living off taxpayers.”
I’m sick of hearing radio commercials advertising $4500 stimulus money to sell your used car to a dealership to buy a new one, and the ad actually said “It’s FREE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT.”
It ain’t free money from the government, it’s WASTED money from TAXPAYERS !!

Maybe, just maybe, the internal polls are showing something simmering in the American public like THIS: "I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!
I know what you're saying. However, intimidation is part of Obama's schtick. It'll take some pressure by strong-willed citizens to get the audio/video released if they come under the state Freedom of Information Act, or Sunshine Law as it's referred to in some states.
It can be done. I've seen public officials buckle like a cheap suit when they're threatened with action under sunshine laws.
Having State law or statutes as a friend is pretty powerful, too.....to paraphrase the sentence leading off this post.
