It wasn’t the parents or the grandparents, it’ done by the State of Hawaii which further shows why this whole conspiracy thing has no legs. The State of Hawaii released the births to those newspapers each week as a standard practice.
Are the birthers really saying that in 1961, the state of Hawaii knew that a small child born in Kenya or somewhere outside of the USA was going to become President 45+ years later so they better run a false birthing notice in the paper?
That’s essentially what some birthers would have you believe since the state sent those announcements out each week. It’s beyond preposterous and doesn’t pass any smell test at all.
Yet we have people continually pushing this (even though Hillary, McCain, Palin, etc couldn’t find anything on this either) birthing thing which ultimately lowers the credibility of conservatives and paints us like lunatics wearing tin foil hats.
It’s no different than the black box conspiracy nutjobs on the left with the 2004 election, the 9-11 truthers who blame the US for the attacks, etc, etc.
But dare say this and you get trashed on here like there’s no tomorrow. Sigh.
What the HELL are you talking about???
I don't think anybody was looking into the future. It was just a serendipitous concidence that he became president years after the birth announcements were published. Since there were at least 4-5 ways to register a birth in those days -- and the child didn't have to be born in Hawaii -- those announcements don't prove anything.
This is pure speculation but offers a scenario that, to the best of my knowledge, is possible...
1. Obama was born "somewhere" on July 4, 1961 (or any other date, for that matter)
2. A parent or grandparent (even) requested a CnOLB from the state on August 5, 1961
3. They state his birth was unattended and occurred "yesterday"
4. The state issues the CnOLB and sends the announcement data to the newspapers
This is based on what I've read, I don't claim it to be a carved-in-stone fact.

If he was born in Kenya (it is possible and there is a very plausible reason for Ann to have gone there) they would want to make sure he was a US citizen.
Also, as other posters have pointed out...they might want to shore up information to keep the Black Daddy from taking away the child later. Although, if they were actually married (illegally) then Grandma Whitey already had the goods on Daddy Sr for breaking the law - except he might have dragged Ann down with him.
