I need to correct that, this IS important.

In those days you got your SS# when you registered for the draft or drivers license or bank account, etc.

So, the area number, the first three, is the State where you applied for your SS#

I always thought it was the state you were born.
I was born in Kansas but have a Missouri #. Now I understand, all these years I thought I was adopted.
