Did Sarah Palin just 'Pwn' the media with divorce rumors?
American Thinker ^ | 8/2/09 | Rick Moran

This is highly speculative but you've probably heard by now that a couple of Alaska liberal bloggers "broke" the story about Sarah Palin's supposed impending divorce from her husband.

It sure sounded solid coming from Alaska Report News:

AlaskaReport has learned today that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage (including a former Palin staffer) have confirmed the split.

A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska last week.

The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other for most of last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks. Sarah ditched Todd (MSNBC) right after the speech and left without him. Sarah removed her wedding ring a couple of weeks ago.

Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there. Sarah Palin is originally from Idaho.

Very interesting. But not true, according to Stacy McCain who evidently talked directly to Palin or someone who was authorized to speak on her behalf:

"Divorce Todd? Have you seen Todd? I may be just a renegade hockey mom, but I'm not blind!" -- SARAH PALIN

Yes, that is her OFFICIAL reponse, which I got via phone at 5:35 this afternoon. Take that to the bank.

I might add that Alaska Report has a about as good a record as Gawker in breaking news - which is better than some MSM outlets but far from perfect. And Gryphen, who apparently started the whole divorce rumor, is even worse.

Nevertheless, once both those sites hit the internet with the story, the blog feeding frenzy on the left began, with a couple of MSM outlets joining in.

As someone who doesn't consider himself a journalist but who has been around newsrooms for many years, let me just say that if this had come across my desk, I would have smelled a set up. It's too pat, the pieces fit too nicely together (an "explanation" for why she resigned) not to raise alarms with real journalists. So I think there is at least the possibility, that either someone in the Palin camp with an ax to grind with the media - or, less likely, Palin herself - whispered a few words to a birdie they were sure would get the word to people who would publish it.

The definition of "pwn" is "1. An act of dominating an opponent, and 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects." If this was a set up by the Palin camp, it worked magnificently. Now, most of the lefty blogosphere has egg on their face while much of the MSM has been exposed as inveterate Palin haters.

Several Alaska bloggers hounded the former Alaskan governor with bogus ethics complaints while she was in office - Alaska Report being one of them. Could a little payback be at play here?

Stranger things have happened.

He teaches CHILDREN..Is there a way he can be thrown out. God help us all if he is teaching future generations to be as nasty and vile as he is

Why do you think he is HIDING his real name?!

Sarah and her attorney know who he is. They served him a letter demanding he retract his libelous claims and remove it from his website. He laughed at them he claims. We will see.

I will keep digging to see if I can find out who he is. He isn't as smart as he thinks. He brags way too much to not slip up.

Copy of letter from Sarah's attorney.

The blocked out email address is: Gryphen2009@yahoo.com. It looks like his last name is five letters.

It must be a sad life to live to destroy someone just because you disagree with them. That just about sums up their 'complaint' aka life.

A former 15 yr. federal employee who claims disability (someone should really check that out!) since she is able to use a computer, garden, fish with her husband, runs around following the Palins. She doesn't seem disabled to me.

Another is Alaska radio host/Huffington Post 'contributor' who is trying to make mainstream on MSNBC.

A CNN stringer who sells his 'goods' to them.

An 'enviromentalist/composer/musician' so he claims who is looking for attention.

There are several more but these are the main players.

Sarah’s attorney isn’t messing around. I hope he sues his ass. Did the assclown apologize yet for his phony baloney story, I bet he doesn’t. This jackass is too full of himself to ever apologize. He takes his orders from Obama and his cronies

If people can stand Barack Hussein Obama’s voice they can certainly stand to listen to Sarah.

Think the polls are saying that the public is in fact; getting sick of BO's voice.

That said; again; it is a matter of decibels; and Obama has a 'low key' easy listening voice. . .among other speaking gifts.

Sara actually worked on her voice/tone and delivery during campaign; and thought she did better in many of her appearances; but since then; think she 'fell back' into an old pattern; her voice getting higher and higher as she gets 'into her stuff'. Was not watching; but listening the other day; and it struck me just how 'high school' her voice sounded; as I was just 'hearing' her.

I was actually surprised, for some reason. Sara is a young woman; and looks even younger for her years; in addition she is most attractive; just think the voice needs to match her experience. She needs to sound like she IS prime time; not grooming for it.

Of course, I take no issue with 'what' she says; but tonal delivery - and in some text - pronounciation - is important.

No apology. He is bragging about laughing at the attorney’s letter to his blogger pals. You would think a 49 yr. old Kindergarten ASSISTANT would have better sense!

Sarah Palin’s lawyer threatened to serve a blogger with libel papers at the kindergarten where he works for writing a post saying the former Alaska governor was getting divorced. Gryphen, who writes a blog called “The Immoral Minority,” wrote on Saturday that “according to my source Sarah is finished with Todd and has decided to end their marriage.”

Palin’s lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, wrote a letter to the blogger, asking “if you want to be served with the summons and complaint at the kindergarten where you assist or at your residence.”

Gryphen laughed off the threat, telling Alaska Report , “Nothing that I wrote in my post was meant to be malicious. I trust my source and simply reported what I had been told.

Exactly. Palin will always have a political career in certain Republican circles.

Hopefully, she’ll run in 2012. I need a good laugh.

Yeah, it wasn’t meant to be malicious. BULL CRAP. He meant to hurt her in the worst way, to hurt her family. I wrote on Sarah’s facebook wall to sue his ass. Take him to court and then, take him to the wood shed

The San Diego CBS station at 5pm lead off with this story.
I called in and they received an ear full.
Am reporting this to the Palin folks as othes who heard this on their stations should report also.

I believe this was an outright leftwing smear job.
Once a story like that gets out, many people believe it and difficult for people to believe the refute.

And that’s how it begins, with just a modest suggestion to modify the speaking voice. Then, maybe just a couple of insider phrases to appeal to the Beltway Bums; then, maybe just a correction here or there to her hair to conform to the Eastern sensibilities; then maybe just a little less specificity and a little more “nuance” to her answers to questions; a little “reaching out” here and there to special groups-within-the-group...and so on.

And, Voila, behold John McCain in a dress.

We’ll take Sarah just as she is. If she’s good enough for Todd...

I’m really surprised that San Diego would repeat this lie. I thought San Diego Country was pretty Conservative, but I guess since it’s a CBS station, they are all in the tank for Obama. Notice every media affiliate that did repeat this story are all CBS affiliates. Gee I wonder why

The difference between Palin and Quayle.
Sarah draws the huge crowds that the other candidates could not draw.
She also energized them like the other candidates could not.

Half my relatives have New York and New Jersey accents
which makes no difference when it comes to Palin’s.

“pwn” is a gamer term. (Originating from either a StarCraft or WarCraft II map / modification where the word “own” was misspelled / typo’ed as “pwn”) Since then, “pwn” has been in use among gamer / geek circles, and apparently has spread from online gaming RTS, FPS, MMOs, etc. to ... blogging and journalism? :)

Unfortunately, the stations don’t represent the City or County they are in. Just a mouth piece of headquartrs.

Yes, the other people I have heard from got it from their CBS stations also.

As far as the discussion on Sarah’s voice she is who she is. She should continue being herself and I don’t think she should change. Stand on principle and if she loses she loses. That’s the whole point, to be the REAL agent of change and be authentic, we need that.
