This is highly speculative but you've probably heard by now that a couple of Alaska liberal bloggers "broke" the story about Sarah Palin's supposed impending divorce from her husband.
It sure sounded solid coming from Alaska Report News:
AlaskaReport has learned today that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage (including a former Palin staffer) have confirmed the split.
A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska last week.
The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other for most of last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks. Sarah ditched Todd (MSNBC) right after the speech and left without him. Sarah removed her wedding ring a couple of weeks ago.
Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there. Sarah Palin is originally from Idaho.
Very interesting. But not true, according to Stacy McCain who evidently talked directly to Palin or someone who was authorized to speak on her behalf:
"Divorce Todd? Have you seen Todd? I may be just a renegade hockey mom, but I'm not blind!" -- SARAH PALIN
Yes, that is her OFFICIAL reponse, which I got via phone at 5:35 this afternoon. Take that to the bank.
I might add that Alaska Report has a about as good a record as Gawker in breaking news - which is better than some MSM outlets but far from perfect. And Gryphen, who apparently started the whole divorce rumor, is even worse.
Nevertheless, once both those sites hit the internet with the story, the blog feeding frenzy on the left began, with a couple of MSM outlets joining in.
As someone who doesn't consider himself a journalist but who has been around newsrooms for many years, let me just say that if this had come across my desk, I would have smelled a set up. It's too pat, the pieces fit too nicely together (an "explanation" for why she resigned) not to raise alarms with real journalists. So I think there is at least the possibility, that either someone in the Palin camp with an ax to grind with the media - or, less likely, Palin herself - whispered a few words to a birdie they were sure would get the word to people who would publish it.
The definition of "pwn" is "1. An act of dominating an opponent, and 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects." If this was a set up by the Palin camp, it worked magnificently. Now, most of the lefty blogosphere has egg on their face while much of the MSM has been exposed as inveterate Palin haters.
Several Alaska bloggers hounded the former Alaskan governor with bogus ethics complaints while she was in office - Alaska Report being one of them. Could a little payback be at play here?
Stranger things have happened.
I think Sarah smoked out the source within her organization.
Thanks, no wonder it’s confusing...
ROFL!
leetspeak - To butcher the English language. Commonly used in text messages to save typing.
leetspeak A form of writing whereby some letters in a word are replaced by a numerical likeness or other letters that create an identical or similar sound.
This style of writing was originally in use by hackers who were attempting to bypass word-filtering on mail servers. For instance, they would use the term ‘haxorz’ to replace ‘hackers’. Internet users new to hacking adopted the style in an attempt to emulate those more experienced, and usage became widely spread.
In recent times the method is almost never used to avoid word-filtering software, but rather to satirise script kiddies and 12 year olds, or to abbreviate for faster typing. It's interesting to note that in most cases it takes more time to type in leetspeak (due to the constant swapping between numbers and letters) than it would take to just type the words properly.
My opinion. If you want to be considered a serious blogger stick to the English language.
I am thrilled to let Sarah be Sarah. Speculation about what she should do drives me nuts. Let Sarah be Sarah. If it is meant for her to be prez she will be.
The main thing is she continue to have a good life.
How would one pronounce it (OK, wise guys, PWN, not IT!)?
If the Iron Lady cultivated her voice, she comes across sounding like she's offering you tea and crumpets.
Don't do it, Sarah.
well, i do hope she’s that type of person. Strategy, it will show she’s smart, give your enemy what they want, and use the false info to destory them.
I hope she does more of it. Leak tonnes of false info out
Just hitlery trying to destroy her logical opponent in 2012.
Almost...it’s a slang variation of “own” or “owned”.
My daughter just put a bumper sticker on her car:
“Sarah Palin 2012 - Change You’ll Be Begging For”
“This is their modus operandi.”
Or ‘odious operandi’ :-D
That's the ONLY area where listening to Sarah makes me cringe. Ironically, it was my dad's commercial fishing background (Sarah has commercial fishing connections in a big way, too, so she should identify) that helped ME recognized and adjust my voice so I was able to be a pretty good radio announcer. Out fishing at sea, the fishermen use the "Mickey Mouse" radios quite a lot, and while most using them were men, there were the occasional women on the boats, and my dad and most other fishermen found the women nearly impossible to understand when they spoke normally; once those women made a conscious effort to speak in a deeper, lower tone, or if a woman happened along who had a naturally deeper voice, there was no problem understanding them.
So in the radio studio, I'd listen to tapes of myself and heard how unintentionally shrill and squeaky my voice was, and lowered my tones SOMEWHAT along the lines of Ted Baxter!!! It WORKED, worked, worked so well. That was some 30 years ago, and it has been one of my most valuable work tools ever since, even having nothing to do with radio. A slightly deeper, lower, controlled, paced speaking voice has an amazingly positive effect on whoever you're speaking to. They trust you more, have more confidence in you, and feel calmer themselves.
I hope Sarah takes Maggie's advice and "cultivates" her voice.
Yeah exactly, why would she make up a lie about herself? That’s not a good thing, even if you did want to prove a point.
Great story; and yes. ..hope she hear 'Maggie' as well. Maybe you could share YOUR story/lol. . .
OMG! WTF? PWND 4 LIFE!
Yes, it must have been a Palin plant. It couldn’t possibly just be left wing bloggers making crap up.
Leftist wingnuts wouldn’t do that, would they?
