Z STREET

By Lori Lowenthal Marcus

There is a chilling scene in the 2002 movie "The Pianist." In it the train was already chugging along on the path to insanity and destruction, but before all was destroyed. The family of the protagonist has been moved into the Warsaw Ghetto and the head of the family is sitting at a table, reading a newspaper. He looks up and says, "I blame the American Jews."

He was talking to me.

At least, that's how I heard it. I resolved then not to be our time's analog of a World War II American Jew -- you know, the ones who read the newspapers, see what is happening to Israel, mutter "tsk, tsk" and turn the page.

Others have had similar epiphanies, but the light from our bulbs going off is obscured by the clouds of appeasement and apologies, dressed up as tolerance and even-handedness. For several years we have agonized over the gathering storm of hostility towards Israel, and the organizational human shields which eagerly validate those positions. Finally we decided that action - an immediate, decisive, in-your-face facts war, was imperative. Allyson Rowen Taylor and I spent a few hours on the phone and created Z (Zionist) Street.

Z STREET is based on these ironclad positions:

The right of the Jewish people to a state, and the right of Jews to live freely anywhere, including inhaling oxygen in areas the world insists are reserved for Arab Palestinians;

Relishing the terms "Jewish State" and "Zionism" - ones currently derided as shameful instead of sources of pride;

Circulation of facts -- not deceptive "Palestinian" narratives -- about the Middle East, Israel and terrorism;

Condemnation of those who revile Israel for actions they ignore when taken by Israel's enemies and virtually all states throughout history;

Categorical rejection of agreements with, or concessions to, terrorists (or their supporters) who are dedicated to Israel's destruction.

Unlike other organizations that claim to be pro-Israel, Z STREET will not pander to politicians who invite us to their offices and pay attention to our pocketbooks but ignore our positions. For those who do not embrace our principles, there are plenty of other organizations to join. This catalyzing organization seeks to change the way discussions about Israel are crafted and viewed.

A fuel source previously untapped has been released: within days of the launch thousands clamored to our site, asking how to join and how they can help. Z STREET already includes members from five continents and more than twenty states. News articles are being written about Z STREET from the far right and the center, and we have been viciously denigrated and cartooned from the far left - all of which is gratifying.

The rising groundswell is in part a response to organizations whispering into the ear of this US administration that pervert the meaning of "pro-Israel." Their ultimate loyalty is to left-wing principles including a secular Israel and tolerance of terrorism only when directed at Jews. They are ashamed of an avowedly Jewish State, yet completely comfortable with 22 Muslim ones, and are actively seeking the creation of a 23rd, based in Jerusalem, whose governing documents call for the destruction of Israel.

The idea that weakening Israel, either because of ideological conviction, animosity towards a strong Jewish State, cowardice, or the grossly misguided belief that compromise or dialoging with committed terrorists will lead to Middle East or global peace, is obscene.

A very few World War II Jews acted as catalysts for those who refused to be cowed. They adamantly, sometimes theatrically, demanded action to prevent the incineration of millions of Europeans Jews, along with millions of members of other minority and political groups.

This band of warriors, led by Peter Bergson and Ben Hecht, staged marches, rallies and theater events. They refused to mimic the Jewish leaders who shrank from their moral duty to demand the US government face the irrefutable facts of the plans, and then the execution of those plans, to murder millions. It would be an honor for Z STREET to be compared to the Bergson Group. Others should join so that the present horrors, and worse, are prevented. The policy implications are profound and the time is now.

I sleep better knowing that when my grandchildren ask me what I did to help prevent the destruction of Israel, I can tell them about Z STREET with a clear conscience and a sense of pride. What will you say?

Lori Lowenthal Marcus is Z Street co-founder.

Who, exactly, was it that voted in overwhelming numbers for BO, no friend in any way of Israel? And whose chief-of-staff is selling them down the road to destruction on a daily basis? American Jews, for what reason I could not and cannot understand, set the stage for a great deal of harm to come to Israel.

I don't know how this woman voted, but she needs to take a closer look at her fellow Jews and write something explaining why they support BO to the point of abandoning Israel. Do they think the Palestinians have any compassion for them? Have they assigned leftist principles a higher priority in their lives than their religion and identity as Jews? American Jews are complicit in taking Israel over the ledge with them in their lemming-like following of BO.

Some such organization is badly needed. Most American Jewish Organizations seem to have been working on the wrong side for a long time, stupified by the conviction that, as this article notes, being as far to the left as possible is more important than the survival of the Jews.

To me, who am not a Jew, the solution would seem to be to return to the Covenant of Israel and to obey God’s commandments. The problem is not with religious Jews but with secular Jews. Still, a political organization that includes a spectrum of Jews from the religious to the secular might begin their education and make those who have been so deluded think a little more about what they have been doing.

A vote for Obama was a vote for Israel’s destruction. How many American Jews recognize that fact?

That still doesn’t explain why they need to be “enlisted to support Israel” in the first place. They are Jews, why aren’t they already enlisted?

“I don’t know how this woman voted, but she needs to take a closer look at her fellow Jews and write something explaining why they support BO to the point of abandoning Israel.”

By comparing her group to another group that made a futile gesture, I believe she is very subtly doing just what you suggest. If she out and out calls them on it, they will reject her premise. However, if she allows them to try to understand in their own minds what she is saying, and they draw their own conclusions, they will be more likely to accept her point. When you are dealing with close-minded true-believers, who strongly wish the world were as they imagine it, you cannot bash them over the head with truth.

She is subtle, but she knows her audience, I believe.

It’s high time that certain people groups realized that they have been played for years as “useful idiots” to a socialist/communist game plan that will never benefit them in the end. Once people awake to the fact that they have indeed participated in their own subjugation and possible even ultimate destruction, they will find that they have to do SOMETHING -— if it is not TOO LATE.

Now, if you can only get the guys at Goldman Sachs to sign on to the notion that today’s dollar is not worth tomorrow’s ovens, we MAY have a chance YET:

I have maintained that this whole economic meltdown began when the price of gas ran up so high in the summer of 2008 -— it was the “first domino” to fall. People who were scraping by and paying their mortgages suddenly were faced with the choice of filling the gas tank and going to work, or paying the mortgage payment. Most chose gas.

I think the intention was to put pressure on the economy -— from those nasty oil companies, of course -— in order to spark anger at the Republican party and swing the election to the Democrats. Thus the oil speculation bubble was born, followed by selling short on a variety of entities chosen to fail in the new and totally contrived market scenario. Bush had a couple of Goldman Sachs agents whispering in his ear about a total economic failure on his watch, and the whole TARP fiasco was born.

It worked so-o-o-o-o much better than they anticipated because not only did it give them the election, it gave them the mortgage meltdown and the tanking economy they needed to point the masses toward fixing the CRISIS du jour ad infinitum. However, I think it came so fast and went so deep that it surprised even the archetects -— thus all the recent quotes about the mess being SO MUCH WORSE than we thought.

Once the lemmings see who they followed over the cliff, as each tries to climb on top of the others to get just one more gulp of air before drowning, things are going to get NASTY!!!

Goldman Sachs is Obama’s Haliburton, and Paulsen/Bernake are Bush’s Benedict Arnolds.

I sincerely hope that you did not read my post as Jew-bashing, because it was not my intent and they are not the only group of folks who have fallen for the appeal of the SOMETHING-FOR-NOTHING LEFTIES.

It is seriously tough to make people stop and think for THEMSELVES -— much harder than just going along to get along with the dogma they have heard all their lives. After all, why would Grandma lie about a thing like that???

We ALL learn hard and harsh lessons in retrospect. Let’s all just pray that enough of us use our 20/20 hindsight to stop this snowball before the avalanche consumes US!!!

Obama fooled some many people with his BS. some were good people who believed that he really was for the working man, the poor and whatever. Not just Jews, but Catholic and other Christians.
But you cannot vote for a man who believes in what Obama believes and be a good Catholic, Jew or Christian. What Obama stands for is polar opposite of what these faiths teach.
People are starting to catch on to what Obama thinks. Mabye slowly.Obama polls number are dropping with each of his left wing, anti American policies. His foot soliders are being laughed at at town meeting. His own SEC of Treasury was lectured by the Chinese about spending. Everytime Obama offers a new fix, people know that it will cost them a lot of cash.
The only religion that embarces him is Islam, mainly because he is most likely a Muslim and they know they hoodwinked the USA into getting him elected.

On the whole, relations between Christians and Jews in FR has been excellent. There are, of course, always a few people in any large forum who speak immoderately. But it’s not much different from the complaints that many Catholics voted for Obama and even cheered him at Notre Dame.

The answer to that is that they are ignorant Catholics or dissident Catholics or Catholics who have ceased going to church regularly. And that what is needed is to try to get them back on track.

Persuasion rather than attacks would work better. And of course those Catholics, Protestants, and Jews who belong to FR mostly don’t need persuasion, since they are mostly conservative and traditional minded.

I miss Alouette’s presence here. She did a lot of great work bringing Protestants, Catholics, and Jews together here in support of Israel, but she then went off to establish her own website, and understandably hasn’t had the time to do both.

Geez, I must have hit your last nerve. I was merely expressing my amazement that so many people could have voted AGAINST THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS. I don’t think I mentioned JINOs who have lost their faith. I have several friends who are Jewish, but who don’t practice their faith, and they still managed to figure out what BO was all about. They are as bemused as I am. And I know I never said Jews are ruining America and Israel; I certainly never called anyone stupid. But I still don’t understand how so many Jews could have voted for BO when there was every indication that he was not a supporter of Israel in any way, shape or form. I can’t figure out what they were thinking. I do not understand the mindset and am looking for a rational explanation of something that, to me, seems irrational. I am not a Jew, I am RC, and I am fully “enlisted” in the cause of Israel. That is what I say.
