estimates of over 1 million United States casualties were expected had we invaded Japan

My father could have been one of them. Of course if he was I wouldn't be typing this right now.

I think of this often.

My father could have been one of them.

My father flew B-29's out of Guam. There is no doubt they would have been involved. Even though the Japanese air force was pretty well defeated, you never assumed anything on missions over Japan.
