The Senate on Thursday sent Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court with a modest display of bipartisan support, making her the first Hispanic justice and only the third woman to serve on the high court.
The 68-31 vote held few surprises, as a small band of Republicans joined Democrats in confirming her 72 days after President Barack Obama nominated the former prosecutor and judge. Her confirmation paves the way for Sotomayor to begin assembling her staff and prepare for the court to convene in October.

Anybody that supported this racist appointment needs to be removed from office at the next opportunity. I’m sick of the war on white males. It’s gotten so that a white heterosexual man has to work twice as hard for twice as long to get half as far as anybody in a “favored” group.

This is what upsets me so much about Black and Hispanic communities. For all of their talk, they know NOTHING about their own history. It's just like when some "leader" introduced Obama after his election to the US Senate as the "first black senator from IL (cheers)". DAMN FOOLS! Did they forget about Obama's Immediate predecessor Carol Mosely-Braun that damn quick??! And when the TOTUS-to-be went on his Euro-Tour Live, in Germany, he mentioned, that "I know that I don't look like the Americans who've previously spoken in this great city", Do we so quickly forget?
