Last week I wrote in this space that Obamacare could be the death of AARP because it would expose to the rank-and-file of the 40 million member seniors group - most of whom oppose Obamacare - how their Washington leaders have been taking them for a ride for many years.
The AARP leadership scoffed at that suggestion, but check out the video of a Dallas AARP meeting in this post by Moe Lane at Red State. The leadership wanted to give the members the usual dog-and-pony show in favor of government-run health care, but the members weren't buying it. So the leaders got up and left. Evidently, you either sit down, shut up and listen to your leaders in AARP, or they abandon you.
If it happened in Dallas, you can be certain that similar scenes are taking place at other AARP meetings all over the country.
Thank you, Mark.
USA Next is still around, expanded its original mission as USA (United Seniors Association).
Thanks. Had Googled them awhile back and their website was gone and some nasty articles came up. Guess they were google bombed. Must have been a threat to the left and AARP.
Some regular joe cut up his card live on Fox this morning. That got me thinking would it not be ever so cool to gather up about a thousand cards, a video cam, and a little C4 (handled by an expert of course). I am pretty sure it would go viral in short order. Everyone loves a good explosion.
She did tell me that independent agents have nothing to do with AARP. She also stated everything that you said. I had another policy in place, at a lower rate when I made the call. I wanted to do something and as little as this may be I have voiced my anger with AARP.
Thanks for the post. When the cancellation notice comes in the mail I will send a copy to AARP along with my membership card torn apart.
Good for you. I haven’t been happy with the AARP agenda for years. They use seniors to push their socialist agenda. Truly despicable.
Thank you!
I loved the way the old geezers handled things.
I have refused to join AARP for the past 15 years because they’re shills for the dems. Everytime they send me one of those “postage paid” return envelopes, I tear up their promotional material and add the heaviest paper I can find, and send it back.
“This is your brain on drugs.”
This is easy to take down....collect a separate, independent pole of AARP members....if they clearly and decisively DO NOT support the Obama administration, AND AARP leadership has published information revealing them to be in the tank for Obama...they lose their IRS 501C3 non-for -profit status....
I am not an attorney...but I’m sure there are some legal eagles that can flesh this out a bit.
Not a bad use for their propaganda, but another Freeper had the brilliant idea of shredding their letters and then mailing it back to them in their postage paid envelope. If enough people do this, it'll get very expensive for them!
I never joined AARP because of their liberal agenda.
I use AAA to get discounts at hotels, motels, and rental cars.
Does anyone know of a conservative senior group that offers good discounts for hotels and motels?
This one does. Someone else posted it upthread.

Is that old lady (hanging low) in the background nude??? Looks like quite a few are. Or are my old geezerette eyes playing tricks?
Well done!
Whoops...sorry folks!
Whoops...sorry folks!
Thanks. I’m fwdg this to my parents. They need to get out of AARP.
When I was 50, my mom bought be an AARP membership as a surprise b-day present. I never renewed it. I'm 62 today and they still send the magazine and other mail. I usually read it to see what they're up to. Plus, I figure they are incurring costs taking away from the bribery pot.
I have a friend who goes to the annual convention. Great entertainment and socisl stuff, according to her. She desn't have a clue what the organization is doing.
