I think this analysis is way off, but IF Palin decides to run and IF these guys gang up on her the way the DNC did to Hillary it is not going to end well for them.

Santorum I think your good friend Arlen needs you more than Sarah does.

I think you are shooting from the hip, not thinking. Bush wanted Specter. He was needed at the time to get Roberts and Alito confirmed (yes, I know they hadn't been named yet, but the openings were coming up).

Had Santorum endorsed Toomey, I think you would be looking at Senator Hoeffel, which would have been much worse. PA was not about to elect Toomey.

I think he’s ascribing feelings to Santorum that aren’t in Santorum’s statements.

That said, do the milquetoast republicans like Sarah ? No, and they never will. Santorum is one. Bill Bennett is another example.

Americans are largely sick of the milquetoasts. Sarah has a good chance to raise enthusiasm and votes. I’d vote for her in a heartbeat, and give money and time as well.

I wouldn’t cross the street to vote for gay friendly, abortion friendly Romney.

If Santorum wanted to make himself useful he'd stay here and support Toomey.

The only ones "creeped out" by Sarah are the snobs with 10-4 jobs.

I should also add that it was a down and dirty campaign against Santorum - mocking him for being the only politician who went to Florida in support of Terri Schiavo. He was being pro-life in all cases, while Casey was trying to make voters think he was pro-life as his father was.

I don't think that Santorum said anything negative about Bristol. He had to put into words what most parents really think. I think he was rather supportive of the family in his remarks.

I was as big a Santorum supporter as anyone here but his cheap shots at Palin coupled with his previous support for Bush and Specter have totally turned me against him.

Fie on you, Rick.

OK, how do you get from:

Her biggest fans that I know is my wife, Karen (ph), and she loves her, and she felt really bad that she quit.

To

That’s a pretty rough start. Saying of Palin, “My wife doesn’t like you,”

And still call yourself literate?

RE :”Translation: A lot of Republicans are as creeped out by you as I am. There’s no way we’re letting you run away with the nomination by putting together a psychotic populist coalition of crazed birthers, Creationists, gun nuts, and security moms.

Security Moms??? Where do they fit in? I am a gun nut but the birthers, creationists and the ‘death panel-ers” make me wonder what the heck is going on here.

So, Bristol was doing something that Santorum was critical of, but thankfully Sarah was showing love and support for her and her baby. Many other conservative pols, as that article showed, were happy to leave it at statements that Palin’s family should not be a campaign issue. Santorum passed judgment on her daughter’s pre-marital behaviors, which is his coded way of saying, “if she was a better mother, she wouldn’t have this problem.”

I'm not necessarily defending Santorum, but this interpretation is way over the top.

Talk about jumping to conclusions, this article is a joke. But there is news here for former senator Santorum. In spite of your years as one of the senate’s most consistent conservatives, that means nothing. You have been found guilty of a crime from which there is no reprieve and no appeal to some here at FR: you’re guilty of having made positive statements about Mitt Romney in the past.

And now you are under suspicion of hoping for Romney success in the future.

Using a has been who couldn't get re-elected to submarine Sarah? Right outta ol' Mitt's playbook. But he's such a wonderful family man!

Mitt, you can count on me to do everything possible to expose your facade.

Exactly right. Sarah has already attracted support from liberal women. If they go misogynist on her like the Dems did Hillary, well, hell hath no fury... Trust me.

Give it up Rick, you’re done, especially if you think you’re going to pull caucus votes away from Sarah to help your pal Romney.

Santorum was my Senator for years, he’s more of a social/Christian conservative than even Palin is. However, he’s also restrictive on people’s freedom. Sortof a Christian statist. That, and his unwavering support for the war at a time when it was incredibly unpopular, sunk him in PA.

It appears to be English, but it makes no sense whatsoever.

First, Sarah Palin is not in my opinion somebody the GOP needs to be saved from. Sarah Palin is, if the party and even the conservative movement fully realized what they had in her, somebody the whole lot of them ought to have been, ought to be still, fighting for the chance to defend. The fact that Governor Palin felt the need to resign and clowns like Mark Sanford and John Ensign still haven’t ought to be deeply embarrassing to the GOP and conservatives.

Second, assuming for the sake of argument that Sarah Palin is a clear and present danger to the Republican Party...as a great sportsman and entertainer might put it, in order to be the man, you’ve got to beat the woman. I’m not sure that even Mitt Romney can do that. I’m deeply skeptical that Rick Santorum can. This guy needs to put down the weed.
