Why would he do that unless he knew he wasn’t the father, and maybe knowing he wasn’t the father was the catalyst for divorceIirc, O Sr. was already married in Kenya. Reasons for divorce might be many, and not necessarily related to paternity of Barak.
Maybe he was paid to stand in for the paperwork.
Regardless of physical resemblances, Davis did apparently influence the developing Barak, just how much remains to be seen.
