Why kill the little boy? Because he takes the mother's time and attention away from the boyfriend. And because it costs money to feed and care for a child, which could be better used on drugs.

Dunno but a lot of people here in Boise are ready to get the rope and find a tree themselves. Specially after the charade that the mother put up even after the boy’s body was found.
