Catching Up to Mexico - Illegal immigration is depleting California's human capital ...
National Review (print) ^ | August 24, 2009 | Alex Alexiev

Posted on 08/22/2009 6:01:45 AM PDT by reaganaut1

California's financial unraveling has prompted a long-overdue debate about taxes, regulation, and government spending, but the state's media and government continue to ignore what could be an even greater problem: the irreparable damage to California's human capital that nearly 30 years of unrestrained illegal immigration has achieved.

This is not an immigration problem, or even an illegal-immigration problem, per se. A strong case could be made that, in terms of educational achievement, industriousness, and entrepreneurial acumen, Asian immigrants to California have proven superior to white natives of the state. Therefore, if California were to experience a wave of mass immigration from Asia, its long-term economic prospects would be improved. Today's Hispanic immigrants would probably have the same effect if they came from the top 10 to 20 percent of their society -- according to those same measures of human capital -- rather than from its bottom rungs. But the influx has instead been composed mainly of the poorly educated, the unskilled, and the illiterate. Such immigrants will likely soon dominate the state's overall population and politics.

In 2005, the California K-12 school system was 48.5 percent Hispanic, compared with 30.9 percent white. By now it is above 50 percent Hispanic. Two-thirds of kindergarten students were Hispanic, most of them unable to speak English.

For a closer glimpse of what's in store for California, look at the Los Angeles Unified School District, the largest in California and the second largest in the country. Of its roughly 700,000 students, almost three-quarters are Hispanic, 8.9 percent are white, and 11.2 percent are black. More than half of the Latino students (about 300,000) are "English learners" and, depending on whether you believe the district or independent scholars, anywhere between a third and a half drop out of high school ...

If you’re cop, yes. Otherwise, we just keep the scum “ITP” (Inside The Perimeter) and let ‘em eat each other.

I figured the article was going to be about the mass migration of Californians to Mexico.

If illegal immigrants want to go to college they can get a loan from the state and go to any UC or CSU school. Meanwhile, the people who are legal residents are given the shaft.

AMERICA’S LEAST WANTED

We often hear that “immigrants only come here to work” but that sentimental fluff ignores the obvious truth — that to a crime-minded foreigner, America is the full refrigerator of his dreams. The material riches, combined with many Americans’ naivete when it comes to crime, make this nation easy pickings for the lowlifes of the world.

Making alien crime even easier is the refusal of some Americans to recognize national break-in as a problem worth pursuing. Some cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, have even given illegal immigration semi-legitimacy under the policy of sanctuary, under which police are not permitted to ask about a person’s immigration status. Such foolishness hobbles normal police activity and ignores how serious criminals are sometimes found through traffic checks and other routine acts of everyday law enforcement.

Worth a look is the FBI Most Wanted pages. There is a list of Most Wanted Terrorists, unsurprisingly headed by UBL. The traditional Top Ten List of Most Wanted is there, along with a monthly selection of bad criminals. The proportion of foreigners is certainly above their percentage of the population. The September 2003 list of 18 wanted fugitives includes five Americans, 10 Mexican nationals and three other foreign nationalities (Iraq, Colombia, Somalia).

Superior? The state is going bankrupt and there are no jobs. Silicon valley is a ghostown of FOR LEASE signs. The CA economy were booming in 1998 before you people got here. Proven your superiority? You people are the worst in the world at IT. Apple CLOSED their R&D in India in 2006 and still e,ploys mostly Americans. Apple’s stock is now 10 tikes what Microsoft’s is.
