I suggest checking out healthy doses for kids of N-Acetyl Cysteine and Vitamin D..and put your kids on it. It sounds like every kid is going to get exposed to swine flu.

To be perfectly honest, I wonder what the author would like the government to do? Shall we close down schools the moment one kid comes down with the flu?

What would be the impact of such a move, given the number of parents who would need to stay home from work with their well child? How does this compare to the impact of waiting until children get sick?

Sure, they could notify parents that X number of students are ill and allow them the decision of taking their child out. I wouldn't have any problem with that. But, parents could talk to each other, ask their kids how many kids are missing from homeroom and get the same result. We don't have to rely upon the government to tell us these things.
