Years ago, my German Shep. got into it with a sick racoon in my backyard. Ralph was bleeding all over his face by the time I got him back in the house. I called animal control, but I got cops because it was after 5pm. So the cops came, and the coon was staring at us from the other side of the fence, just about 2 feet from us. Cop said: “This racoon is sick. They never get this close to humans unless they’re sick.”

Well the 2 guys caught the racoon & had to send it off to a lab for tests since it had scratched and bit my dog. So they said:”We need to take the dog, too”, at which point I said NO FRICKIN’ WAY!

I was single, I lived alone, and I promised to keep him quarantined. He had had all his shots, but I also promised to take him to the vet to get him checked out.

Turns out the coon had distemper, and Ralph was just fine.

Poor little raccoon. Great that Ralph was okay.
