I am not a Catholic, but just a Christian saved by Grace! I have no denomination outside of “Christian”. To anybody that says they are a Christian, and votes Democrat? To that person/persons, I do not care what denomination you are with, I say......... I CHALLENGE!!!

To vote Democrat means you are fine with the following.....abortion, homosexuality, taking Christ name from the public square, removing prayer and the Word of God from the classroom. It means you are spitting on God/Christ/Holy Spirit.....case closed

If the Pope had any back bone he would have said, anybody that votes for Clinton,Carter or Obama, would be excommunicated from the Church. The Pope of the day should have gone on to say, not only is abortion etc unacceptable in the Catholic Church, but also unacceptable in the Christian Church, and in the eyes of Christ.

[[We have to ask - was Kennedy a true believer in his liberal causes?]]

Ted CHOSE to IGNORE God’s voice- which is NOT an easy thign to do- You need to dedicate yourself to OPPOSING God’s voice within you in order come to many of hte conclusions about issues that the dems ‘beleive in’- it’/s a DELIBERATE hardening of hte heart FOR POLITICAL GAIN- By their fruit ye shall know them- And Ted’s fruit was rotton to hte core- Ted wanted to ‘be religious’- He did NOT want to be, nor ever was, saved by grace. The murder of Mary Jo, and his following actiosn after the murder were NOT somethign a TRUE Christian could have done- the love of God was ABSENT in Ted’s life- IF the love of God was not present, then there can be only one hting that took it’s place, and it was anythign but heavenly!

The Church is not Christ. Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. The Church is the Bride of Christ.

You are right though, not to confuse men in leadership with the Church itself.

Kennedy Catholicism is the belief that you can get to heaven by presenting yourself as a caring public servant to the great unwashed.

That really is becoming a religion of the left. I pay my taxes to Caesar and Caesar administers to the poor, Hail Caesar for making us all part of a greater body of one (and for streamlining the process).

We have to forgive Teddy, Christ said so. Doesn’t mean we have to sit idly by while they do evil deeds. So hard to pray for people like this, but I will.

Probably the most seductive pull of the Catholic church is the doctrine of "forgiveness."

That individuals may stray from the word of God, but they can be forgiven........the church provides the means to absolve their guilt.

As a Catholic, I have attended many Catholic funeral Masses. They were simple affairs. Granted, no one I know was a huge celebrity, but it could have been a private affair. Farrah Fawcett had a Catholic burial, and there were no cameras in Church, as big as celebrity as she was.

While individual Protestants oppose those things, is there a Protestant institution that has taken such high profile opposition as has the Catholic Church?

The most conservative church in America is also the second largest church next to Catholic, it is also the most hated and therefore the most shutout church in America by the media.

The Southern Baptist are tough and they call a spade a spade, while all Churches were absorbing the influences of the left in the sixties and seventies the Southern Baptists went in and fought to block that liberal wave, they fought a tough internal battle and the conservatives won.

If you want to know what a church accomplishes politically then look at how it's members vote. Obama got 54% of the Catholic vote and the members of America's second largest church probably gave him around 20% of their vote.

Elected officials make policy.

If this bothers us there is one way we can set the record straight..bombard the Pope with emails and ask why these people get a pass and other normal people are sinners

The Pope has always maintained degrees of separation from the American Catholic Church, stemming from anti-papist sentiment tracing back to colonial times, and that policy has been especially obvious when it comes to public statements to or about American politicians. There were cries of outrage when Catholics were advised by some bishops, after years of silence from the American Church, that they should not vote for any candidate who actively supports abortion. The papists were coming!

If you want to write a letter, address it to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, or more specifically, the Archdiocese of Boston -- that's where the stupid has traditionally originated.

yes, obama got 54% of the self-selecting Catholic vote, meaning, those who call themselves Catholics, aka CINOs. Southern Baptist? isn’t JIMMY CARTER your cross to bear? my brother and SIL are southern baptist and my SIL’s father is a southern Baptist preacher. they have noted the gradual liberalization and wearing away of that denomination as well.

Three come to mind: John Hagee Ministries, the Christian Broadcasting Network (Pat Robertson) and Thomas Road Baptist Church (Jerry Falwell) have taken very high-profile stands.

The point is, as a DENOMINATION, no other has been as steadfast. It is ridiculous to sit here and say who is better, stronger, bigger for the cause. My point is that we should each worry about the church WE belong to and what it is/isn’t doing for these causes, instead of crossing denominational lines to point fingers.

Liz, no one could disputes your thoughtful theological analysis and true Christian sentiments.

However, the final send-off did not have to be a cross between The Democrat Convention, Christmas in Guatemala, and the 4th of July. What next for the deranged Catholics of Massachusetts? A demand that St. Edward of Chappaquiddick be canonized immediately?

Shame on the Archdiocese.

As long as the Priest and the bishop are freely giving you communion, you are a Catholic.

So, by your definition, anybody off the street can go into a Catholic Church, receive Communion and they are now Catholic? I was under the impression that a true Catholic follows Catholic teaching in the way of faith and morals, keeps the Sacraments, goes to Confession, prays the Rosary, etc.

You didn’t say denomination, you said institution, and I answered correctly.

yes you did. i misspoke. but again, let’s tend to our own. i never can understand why Protestants are so fixated on excommunication of Catholics, and what the Church should be doing about it. tend to the weak links in your own chain.

Apparently Teddy planned his funeral---or parts of it. Example---Cardinal McCarrick said Teddy requested his letter to the Pope be read---writing to the Pope is not something an ordinary person does.

He asked friends to eulogize him---they happened to be well-known---one is a president.

He probably also asked that certain prelates be there....since he worshipped at different churches.

Mission Church was not his parish....it was a place he and Vicky came to love, when they prayed there when he was being treated for brain cancer at a nearby medical facility.

He was the brother of a slain president---and could certainly make request others would not.

However, the funeral Mass was no different from any other funeral Mass....even down to the Ave Maria.

Probably Farrah would have had a more public funeral---if she had not died the same time as Michael Jackson (who got mega-publicity).

Kennedy and others like him lower the Church instead of the Church lifting him up. The Church would be better off if it gave the boot to politicians and other famous people who use their supposed Catholicism to increase their personal popularity instead of following Scripture and being a good example for others.

i never can understand why Protestants are so fixated on excommunication of Catholics, and what the Church should be doing about it.

IMHO, integrity and faithfulness to Christ seems to be the real issue. When one looks bad, when they refuse to discipline, then they all look bad. This is the Devil's doing to separate the faithful, and keep them at each other's throats.

We are all part of the same Body, and in truth all Churches are one--we are the Bride of Christ. There is no mention in the Bible of the Bride being anything less.

In the 1976 election Gerald Ford won 55% of the Protestant vote, Jimmy Carter Carter won 54% of the Catholic vote which fits the pattern of Catholic voting in America.
