Drink 8 glasses of water every day.

That’s such BS. Your body tells you when you need to drink with this thing called thirst. And is a longer life spent mostly urinating really worth the effort?

You’re right. This myth arose from some military study on the water requirements of troops. It turns out that this includes fluid derived from food, like fruits, vegetables, meat, juices, etc.

Total junk science, but because it’s a round number and emotionally appealing, some people have glommed onto it as a health benefit.

I call BS on the water thing too. Going out of your way to drink 8 glasses of water is just unnatural. If you have a proper diet, you get most of the water you need from food.

Back when I was overweight and eating mostly processed, salty foods, I needed a lot of water. Since switching to mostly whole foods (lots of fruits and vegetables), the only drink I have is a cup of coffee in the morning and maybe a glass or two of wine or beer at night.
