A Call to Arms for Parents Upset About Obama’s Public School Address
Pajamas Media ^ | Sept. 3 | Barbara Curtis

President Obama’s co-opting of what is, for many, the first day of school — not only taking unprecedented access to 50 million impressionable minds but pushing a curriculum turning children’s hearts towards Obama — has riveted the attention of conservative parents nationwide.

Consider the proverbial frog who will immediately jump out of a pan of hot water, but when the water is heated gradually will be boiled to death. Public school parents have in many ways been that frog, compromising and letting things go as our schools slid towards social engineering, producing citizens leftists could use to their advantage.

In the midst of that gradual temperature rise, this sudden power grab, using the executive branch to intrude into our local schools, has sent the temperature soaring so suddenly that many complacent public school parents have finally jumped.

Looking back at the pot, they see something frightening brewing. ...

If my kids had a choice to view a simultaneous Republican address, then I’d let them attend. I’ve emailed my thoughts to the district already. This is unbelievable. My hope is that the Dem’s are digging an audacious hole they won’t get out of. Starting next year.

My daughter has been to the school this morning for a conference and talked to the principal afterwards. She was told they were ‘considering’ showing it so daughter has decided to take the grands out 5 minutes before the, ahem, “lesson” and bring them back 5 minutes after it’s over and put “protest” as her reason for removing the kids from school. She has also written all the school board members and told them she will not tolerate political agendas, propoganda or anything else that takes away from normal teaching cirriculum (sp). Other parents in this area are doing the same. Politics has no place in a classroom and if you have a teacher with a political agenda whose students take everything they say as gospel, there’s where it starts. God bless all these parents that are speaking out about this.

Hmmm... what happened to that Fairness Doctrine thingy. Shouldn't Conservatives be given "equal time"?

Don't think they are withdrawing the video. They are retooling the lesson plan after.

Really, really moving into Hugo Chavez-territory here rather rapidly, folks.

This is right out of Sandinista Nicaragua, Bolivarian Venezuela, Castro-ite Cuba and FMLN El Salvador. It is all textbook marxist community organizing, top down, centrally engineered.

I think in the White House that their updated internals MUST necessarily show that they can no longer survive the 2010 midterm elections, which means they are dead in the water come January 3, 2011 on major policy, less than a year and a half away. So they are going to try to ramp up the pace and seize as much power as they can. This phony State of the Health speech in Congress and now hijacking our precious children. People should really raise holy hell back there in the USA over this, in my book. They are crossing many, many red lines.

Is the speech mandatory for all schools? Jake Tapper said it's not:
The Department of Education though did not “force” – as Greer claims – schools to do anything. Schools districts across the country have the option to choose if they show the President’s address to their students.
Link

Can anyone confirm whether it's mandatory or not?

Right. They would follow Obama with McCain agreeing with everything Obama said. No thanks!

What if the “Progressives” choose the Republican, i.e. McCain or Snow?

Ever seen the token “conservative” on Liberal television shows. Do you think this administration would risk facing off with a real conservative?

Who picked McCain as the GOP candidate?

The state-run media, and the mind-numbed masses that watch them.

The MSM picked McCain and we sat back and did not let our voices be heard. NO MORE, we are vocal now & we need to continue to be!
