Ignorance is the word alright. They possess a profound ignorance of our history, the Constitution and what it does and does not say, and of human nature.

They are pathetically naive and Pollyanaish in their trust in a Utopian ideal.

Liberals are not to be despised, they are to be pitied. They live pitiful little lives filled with envy and hatred of everything they can't understand and they fear freedom and self-determination (and responsibility).
