He was on Oprah with his message. He went all over the U.S. to various cities. I know he came to Lakewood, WA, however he has been criticized by many blacks. It is a shame, a real shame.

When I was in H.S. one of my good friends was a black girl who was very smart. She really studied hard. She was shunned by the other black students. She had us, but I couldn't believe how she was treated. She became a successful doctor. It is sad that many black children feel it isn't cool to do well in school.

It is sad that many black children feel it isn't cool to do well in school.

Trust me, this isn't a new thing. My parents both endured negative peer pressure from classmates and peers for their academic achievements in Watts of the late 1940s.
