I Pledge to be a servant to Obama video shown to schoolkids

Posted on 09/05/2009 9:15:23 AM PDT by 4rcane

A school principal has apologized for showing a video at an assembly that a politically conservative group leader is calling "radical, leftist propaganda."

Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called "I pledge" on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, "Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other." The video then features celebrities making pledges about how they will help the president and the world -- and that's where some say the problem lies.

so this principle thinks that showing this, this marxist proganda to children is education????

He needs to be fired, immediately. No discussion required. He is a complete failure.

Would anyone in their right mind, agree to show a video to children that he has not seen before?????

I suffered through the entire video - it was sickening...

I know.

But those on the watchtower must warn anyway, whether or not the citizens wake up.

The moron with the tattoos was bad enough pledging his 'service' to Barack Obama before kissing each bicep. But then they got to Ashton saying over and over "What's your pledge?" just before they went to a voice-over of them all saying "I pledge to be a servant of our president and our country." (I'm quoting from memory here so a few words may be off).

I used this as an opportunity to tell others how the founding fathers considered the government to be an untrustworthy servant, necessary to get some things done, but one you had to keep your eyes on all the time lest you be robbed blind and to whom you'd never turn over the running of the house (and interesting, isn't it, that the word "economy" comes from a Greek term meaning "the management of the house"?) The government and the people who work for it are our servants, as in what they used to be called, "public servants."

This is how they indoctrinate children.

They hide and lie, and do all they can to undermine parental authority, to make new socialists for the brave new future. The education colleges are full of this stuff and most of the teachers trained there agree with them.

This is NOT surprising at all. Just another day at the government indoctrination center.

I was just talking with my husband.

A woodpecker can do a lot of damage to a house. If pecked at the right place, in combination with the weather, it can bring down the whole house.

Well...I just keep pecking away.

Everything begins with an idea. Ideas are the most powerful force in the universe. Literally! That we exist at all began with the spark of an idea in the mind of God.

So...I am out here in the cyber-world spreading ideas. Hopefully, I can get others to think differently about their tuition-free, thought-control, government kiddie prison ( with the Orwellian name of “public” school).

Serve Obama?

Beck played this on his show the other day.

I'll serve Obama a boot in his ass.

As this economic implosion continues, there could be an opportunity to take advantage of the inability of the state to pay for all it is doing. Schools were shut down in the Great Depression. I believe it could happen again. That would be the time for homeschoolers to make better in-roads of the middle class. It will depend on how strong the dictator becomes, and how much freedom there will be by then.

And you do a very good job of pecking away. I admire your spunk.

Who in the name of all that is holy is swayed in their political or any other kind of thinking by the most brain dead of idiot celebrities? You are in pathetic shape if you are looking to Demi and Ashton for serious guidance in any area.

My suspicion is that the only way you may be off is that they probably didn't say "and our country".

I'd say it goes well beyond interesting to unbelievable. While many kids would have dropped out to go to work, as my father did, many others completed school along with my mother. Perhaps a few school closures/consolidations (due to declining attendance) are being generalized into schools being shut down.

I'd have to see some solid proof on that claim before I'd accept it.

Yep.

I read that somewhere. It was not nation wide, and was in various districts. I don’t think it would have been the same period of time, and would vary from place to place.

But it would be an open door to help parents continue education. I wonder if on-line schools will grow? But it could be a boon to local homeschooling groups to be ready with books and guidance.

The schools would run out of money. It was not nation wide. And frankly, I don’t remember where I read this. I have no idea if it could be found in a search. But as a homeschooler, I noticed the fact that this did happen. It did vary from place to place. And I would certainly not claim your experience is untrue. Like I said, it was not nation wide.

Thank you.

I had not seen this before, but it fits what I remember reading about education during the Depression.

That moron with the tattoos is Anthony Keatis, the dope shooting lead singer of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Years of shooting heroin and cocaine into those arms has done wonders for his appearance and his ability to think it would seem.

Barack Obama should be proud to have the support of junkies like him. Perhaps Zero should make Anthony the new Czar of Dope Supply for the senate since 0 is busy elsewhere.
