We all may disagree with obama on so, so many things. His communist czars, obama's own communism, and way more things..........

But I don't think we should do to Obama what the left did to Bush on Iraq. The country is at stake here. The terrorists are out there and are still plotting in their caves in afghanistan.

While Afghanistan my very well end up becoming Obama's war, this should be one area......... if it ends up being the one and only single issue that we conservatives ever do support obama on, we should stand behind him on it.

We can get Obama on his czars. On his radicalism. On his domestic policy. On his appologies. And on many other things.

But at the end of the day, we all need victory in Afghanistan.

That's where I stand. I stand for victory in Afghanistan.

Do you think Obama stands for victory in Afghanistan? I think he’s aspiring to Vietnam II.

The real problem is Pakistan.

I’ve thought that since 2001/2002.

Like Vietnam it’s a complete waste of our brave young peoples lives, not to mention the money. Let them have that moonscape!

I heard an interesting interview on the radio today. The interviewee, who had spent a lot of time in the Middle East, was pessimistic about our role in Afghanistan. He said that in the sense of Al Qaeda, we had won, because they were gone and driven out. But, he said, they could reappear anywhere, such as in the horn of Africa. On the other hand, he said that nation building in Afghanistan was very difficult because, unlike Iraq, it was a very primitive and isolated region. There was a lot less to work with.

Define victory.

That being said, Afghanistan still represents an anvil upon which to hammer jihadists without them having to come to the US.

he’s a wartime president alright, just not with the enemies of the US but with it’s own citizens.

On a sort of related issue...

How’s the US tv news coverage of Iraq/Afganistan been lately?

That's where I stand. I stand for victory in Afghanistan.

And I agree with you. I'm not so sure the jOker-in-chief is committed, for two reasons that I personally know of:

1) He recently stated that he hates the word "victory".
2) Rules of Engagement have been changed to "Don't shoot back unless you know for sure that everyone is a bad guy."

(I might be paraphrasing here, but I'm not exaggerating/embellishing).

we can’t give osama bin laden and friends a victory. If we pull out, he’ll be able to gloat and get even more recruits to his cause

QUAGMIRE! QUAGMIRE! VIETNAM! NO EXIT PLAN! NO MORAL AUTHORITY! NO U.S. INTERESTS! MONEY FOR HALLIBURTON! NO BLOOD FOR OIL!

Sorry, just channeling a little anti-Bush/anti-Iraq War mantra from the left. I wonder if we'll hear the same drum-beat and mantras from the media now?

I, too, stand for victory in Afghanistan, but we won't get victory if our President doesn't LEAD and OWN this war. Pressing Obama to take charge is the way to go.

The war in Afghanistan was always unwinable, that is why Bush choose to fight primarily in Iraq.

A smart general always chooses the high ground or other best location for the battle at hand to give him an edge. Bush rightly choose Iraq. The left never understood that, and will cause another Vietnam in Afghanistan because of it.

Whatever war is going on at the time of his inauguration, obviously belongs to the new president.
