San Diego ACORN worker fired following sting ("Tijuana connections" to smuggle child prostitutes)

Juan Carlos Vera of San Diego ACORN was fired after being caught on tape providing advice to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute. ACORN community head, David Lagstein, had said he believed Juan Carlos Vera did his best to deal with a challenging situation. But 3 hours later, Lagstein reversed himself after reevaluating video in which Juan Carlos Vera was seen advising he could smuggle underage girls through Tijuana.

The San Diego ACORN tape is the most obnoxious to date. Shows this scumbag, complete with accent, eager to help---says he has "connections in Tiujana" to help smuggle in underage girls for the sex trade. He also makes moves on Hannah---you can hear him ask her "pimp" how much he wants for her.....like she was a piece of meat. Later in an interview, Hannah says she felt uncomfortable being around him. It's mind-boggling that scumbags like this are leeching off taxpayers on the ACORN payroll.

(a) We need to find out how many illegals ACORN employs. (b) We need to find out if ACORN has other "connections to Tijuana"----perhaps in the drug trade. (c) We need to put ACORN tax services under the IRS microscope.

As ACORN grapples with a scandal that in recent days has led the Census Bureau to sever ties and the Senate to block housing funding , other groups with similar stated goals are left to wonder how the fallout might affect them. But the group is on its heels after conservative activists posing as a prostitute and her pimp released hidden-camera videos ....

The Senate voted 83-7 Monday to block Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN. ....HUD provides funding to 25 groups that, like ACORN, have a national profile and similar goals. Among these groups are the National Council of La Raza.... Analysts on poverty and welfare said they believe the scandal will have little impact on these groups.... If Congress blocked funding to ACORN, "it's going to go someplace else," he said. "But that someplace else won't be that much different from ACORN."

Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., said that ACORN has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994 and that the group was eligible for a wider set of funding in the pending legislation, which funds housing and transportation programs. ACORN received $1.6 million of federal funding for its housing services in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.

Rector said the government spends more than $700 billion a year assisting low-income people, including cash, housing, food and medical care. "And we have no idea where that money goes," he said. Of that amount, $70 billion goes to what he called "amorphous" social service programs. "To the extent of what you're seeing, when people see the ACORN operations and the recognition of the closeness of ties between Obama and ACORN, it's a symbol of the overall incompetence of the welfare state." If these fired ACORN people had been conservatives, they'd have been hounded by the media, since their firing for their reaction, for further shaming and for harassment purposes.

There has been zero follow up with these people. I'd like to know, have they been fired legally? As when ACORN fires their people who commit election fraud, they're throwing the poor workers under the bus and letting the supervisors off the hook.

How about follow up on the ACORN trainers of these people? What were they taught, how were they taught? What are ACORN procedures for when people come in with illegal proposals?

Interest in ACORN is white hot right now and you could sell a lot of papers, if you started covering the story. For additional examples, go back to ACORN's plans and protests to get people into sub-prime mortgages and how they basically threatened banks to make these loans or get denounced as racist. How'd this work out? How about follow up on the people who got the loans?

Remember the scene from one of the Superman movies where newspaper editor Perry White is handing out instructions to the huge crowd of reporters on covering Superman and some recent event. He covered the ballpark from sports to finance to personal to everything. Why don't newspapers want to sell newspapers today? They'd rather go out of business?

It's a white-hot story, that could make more careers and sell a lot of papers.

I guess newspapers don't actually want to sell copies anymore, are they waiting to get nationalized by Obama? Then they'd become totally worthless.
