So you’re a fan of government schools? The same sort of schools that were designed from the get-go to turn out good little citizens, totally uncritical of the State? The same sort of places that Horace Mann designed to be just like their Prussian models? No kid deserves that. Private schools, home schooling, both were the NORM and both turned out some OUTSTANDING students long before the statists wrested control of the school systems from the hands of parents. So if you’re comfortable with having your kids in the hands of the teachers’ unions for a third of their lives, you go for it. Just leave MY kids and grandkids OUT of it.

Oh, and NO, no kind of “parental involvement” is going to change one whit of the teachers’ unions’ objectives. Look at where it’s been done, yet the gay/lesbian/whatever agenda still goes forward and their pushers are still pushing no matter the wishes of the parents. In fact, how many times have you seen posted to this very board horror stories of parents threatened with arrest for wanting some input into their child’s education? Get real.

Wrong. Look at the lawsuit in CA. I succeeded in having the Obama speech quashed in our local district. My child's 3rd grade teacher had to re-teach the 2nd amendment after I had a sit-down with her and the school principal. Our district's attempt at "healthy lunch" requirements were voted down by parents who didn't like the incursion.

Involved parents can, and do, make a huge difference. Our public schools are outstanding. My wife and I both attended them. She's an aerospace engineer, I've already made my first million. We're both under 35. So, yes, I'm a fan of my public schools.

Our kids attend public school, but they aren't indoctrinated. They are sometimes dissenting voices, but they aren't the only ones. They're learning how to defend their principles, and they open the eyes of other students, who will ultimately have the power to vote.

Raising your kids or grandkids in a bubble won't do them any good when they're outnumbered at the ballot box later in life. Don't surrender the schools to the libs. Stand and fight.
