What’s this business these days of finding the term “Ma’am” to be offensive? First Barbara Boxer and now this mess. What in the hell are you SUPPOSED to call a woman of higher caste than you if not Ma’am?
This was just a polite Southern boy (of Hispanic descent, btw) addressing an adult woman appropriately.
She’s obviously a nutcase, but she has has built her entire career on her suntan. She’s a very light-skinned black woman, although she has a heavy black accent which she has probably carefully cultivated. Remind you of anybody else we know?
“Whats this business these days of finding the term Maam to be offensive?”
They’re probably so used to being called “bitch” and “ho” by their boyfriends, and listening to offensive (c)rap “music”, that they might actually be shocked by a traditional term of respect. Sort of like “Stockholm Syndrome”, IMO
Boxer was so wrong. And So disrespectful. Which is the epitome of bad manners. To make someone else feel uncomfortable.
you should be respectful to any woman, if she is “higher caste” or not. M’am is a perfectly acceptable title to most of us.
