Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Tehran’s announcement that it is building a new uranium enrichment site was “a blow” for Western powers, according to Iranian news agency ILNA.

And Iran lost their only AWACS plane on Tuesday. Followed by explosive rhetoric from Israel at the UN.

Iran lost its only airborne early-warning plane in an aerial collision above a big military parade in Tehran that showcased the country’s growing ballistic missile arsenal.
The Tuesday collision left Iran’s military without any electronic eyes in the sky at a time when Tehran fears Israel plans to launch a pre-emptive strike against the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
But according to Strategic Forecasting, a private intelligence and security consultancy based in Austin, Texas, the loss of the Iranian Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft, known as AWACS, is probably not as dramatic as it may seem.

Anybody that knows the capabilities of AWACS (My dad worked on ‘em right up to retirement) and has read any Tom Clancy novels knows that a VERY powerful offensive/defensive weapon has been removed from Iran’s arsenal. The timing is very suspicious. I don’t know how powerful Mossad is, but this has their fingerprints all over it. When I heard about this I said that has to be either Mossad or God that did it. It defies the laws of chance that that particular would go down and crash where it did.
It is a mindbogglingly unlikely coincidence. And when it comes to this sort of thing, I don’t believe in coincidence.

It wasn’t an E-3 AWACS. It was a piece of crap Russian clone. It probably wasn’t even operational (apparently not even all that flyable). Even when it was mission capable, it probably didn’t have half the capability of the E-3. It’s an insult to the Americans who designed AWACS to even call it an Iranian “AWACS.”
Interestingly, I never bothered to follow up on “what kind” of AWACS plane it was. My bad.
