Marco Rubio vs. Charlie Crist. The Rocky Balboa fight of politics.

The Rocky Balboa fight of politics is occurring right before our eyes here in the Sunshine State.

Charlie Crist, the ever-popular governor of Florida with approval ratings in the 60's is getting more than he ever bargained for in his race for the United States Senate from Marco Rubio, the former speaker of the house in the Florida state legislature.

The pundits predicted an early landslide. The Republican establishment in Florida offered Rubio an easier office to win.

Maybe Attorney General?

Rubio declined.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee and Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) even threw their hat behind Crist the week he announced.

So what.

So how is Rubio still around?

It's definitely not the money as Crist has all but dominated that game by taking part in establishment fundraisers in Atlanta and Washington, DC. Meanwhile, Rubio has been touring the state.

Of Florida that is. Not Georgia, and not DC.

Again, how is Rubio still around? Could it be the conservative message and not the message that Crist recently offered by being one of a very few Republicans to endorse President Obama's stimulus package, a stimulus package of which only 36% of Americans believe is actually working? Or the fact that Crist said that Florida's above average unemployment was "not that big of a deal"?

Not to mention the fact that voters may be considering Crist a lightweight as Rubio has challenged Crist to ten debates. Ten debates that Crist has declined because he is supposedly too "focused on governing" and is saving sea turtles instead.

Crist is such a RINO. I imagine he would get along great with Snowe Collins and Spector and other RATS in the senate.

We need a strong conservative like Rubio.

GO Marco Rubio!!!

You will be pleased to know that several of the County Republican Committee straw polls have gone overwhelmingly for Marco. I have met him a couple of times and he is one of the most down to earth and genuine people I have met in the sphere of his profession.

He has the ability to give stem winder speeches from just simple notes laced with some very whitty humor and has the same folksiness persona as Sarah Palin. I personally beleive he exudes the parameters of the people Sarah says she is going to support and campaign for.

He is not pro-illegal. Where are you getting that from? I've heard him talk about illegals. Crist is the Martinez clone. No, he's even worse. He's a Snowe or Collins. He's great on 2nd amendment rights, the rest, a total Obongo as* kisser. Photobucket

I’d rather have him over a democrat, but I’d rather have a conservative, period.

Charlie Crist, the old fence sitter has decided he wants to go national...why?..He hasn’t led Florida anywhere, hasn’t accomplished anything, made a bunch of promises that collapsed and he didn’t do anything about them...I wouldn’t vote for him for dogcatcher...

Enough of RINO dead wood in the Senate, let’s get some real Republicans- conservatives in there who can correct the wrong direction this country if going in...

Not me. Might as well have a dem as senator as rino Crist. At least Crist would not be screwing us when we least need it.

Charlie proved his merit when CSX rolled him to endorse the rail purchase scam started by Jeb Bush. The country does not need another politician in Washington that is more worried about his hair style and his career than doing the will of the people who elected him.

You can say that again. I just want them to stand up and talk to the people and stop tailoring everything as if the liberal media is their audience. We have far too many individuals in leadership positions who are creatures of the system and who are too comfortable with the rise of ever bigger government.

Pat Dewine, son of former Ohio RINO senator Mike Dewine, had the Washington Etablishment behind him too. Had a 10-1 money advantage over his nearest competitor in a special election for a house seat.

The best Pat Dewine could do was a FOURTH PLACE FINISH.

Ohio voters spoke loud and clear.

So will the voters in Florida.

DeMint,Pence, Palin, and others) and we shouldn’t confuse that with Party leadership.

You need to go back and re-take your history lesson.

Pence is part of the house leadership team. He is not top dog, unfortunately.

RNC CHAIRMAN, MICHAEL STEELE, HOUSE MINORITY LEADER, BONEHEAD BOHNIOR, SENATE MINORITY LEADER, MITCH MCCONNELL.

Although, I really like Demint and Palin, they have no say in GOP leadership decisions. I wish they did.

I didn’t assume they have any role in decisions but they have far more influence than Mitch McConnel or Steele. I have been impressed with John Boehner. He did lead the charge against Cap and Trade and he has kept the House solidly against Obamacare. McConnel on the otherhand has not been nearly as good in keeping his folks in the Senate in line. As for Michael Steele he has become irrelevant. I had lots of hope for him but he caught a bad case of liberal interruptus self flatgellatus.

We have a huge number of real conservatives in the House and Senate. The problem is that we still have a number who are afraid of their own shadows. We have our own leaders and they aren’t exactly the official ones.

I think we will see the same with Mark Kirk. If he wins the nomination he will surely lose against any Democrat he runs against.
