Nuclear Energy: The Only Solution
MensNewsDaily.com ^ | September 28, 2009 | Frank J. Tipler

Biofuels are all the rage these days, as illustrated by a particularly silly article that appeared in the New York Times recently. It claimed that homebrew biodiesel could significantly reduce the U.S. demand for imported oil.

There is no way that ethanol from sugar, corn, or biomass is going to make a significant reduction in the U.S. demand for crude oil. Do the numbers:

You have to understand the “feudalist” mentality of the leftist elitists.

THEY DON’T WANT US TO USE ENERGY
and have the comfortable lifestyle that only they should enjoy.

Yes, and once you take down the Congressional law that bans reprocessing, it will last us a real long time. If France can, we can.

Nuclear Energy: The Only Solution

Which is why they won't let it happen. They don't want a solution. They want the US to be energy poor so the other folks can move ahead of us.

“They” are NOT looking for a “Solution”!!!

This administration wants American business and industry to FAIL, as that is necessary for maximizing citizen dependence on “government services”.

Here's the best explanation I've seen:
The Secret to the Suicidal Liberal Mind

It is possible to perceive the passions of the Left as frenzies of masochism. What could be more idiotic and masochistic than to oppose missile defense? This opposition cannot be understood unless one dispenses with its rhetoric and rationales and realizes that these folks at their emotional core do not want their country defended.

The lunacy of the "global warming" hoax cannot be comprehended other than that its masochistic advocates do not want their civilization to prosper. The culture-destroying immigration policies that Pat Buchanan warns are causing "The Death of the West" were put in place by those who do not want their culture to survive.

Not backing nuclear power is proof that global warming is a hoax. If it is so improtant to do now, why are we not building nukes? Why do coal fired plants still produce electricity - becasue there is no crisis.

The bottom line: solar energy, which is the source of biomass/grain/sugar, is just too diffuse to provide the energy we need for transportation.
The only solution is nuclear energy.

I agree 100%... but only up to this point.

The problem is, the pinhead prof wants to use the nukes to make artificial gasoline...
(Good grief, where do these morons keep coming up with these brainfarts?)

The obvious solution is to use the nukes to supply power through the grid to electrically powered mass-transit systems (high-speed rail, light rail and maglev).

The problem is.. the 'Rats are anti-nuke to the point of stupidity.
And the GOP has it's collective head stuck up it's butt even farther when it comes to mass transit.

My proposal: toss out all the partisan bums and elect somebody with some common sense.

The obvious solution is to use the nukes to supply power through the grid . . .

I'd like to see it pared down to the extent little, if any, grid is necessary. Localized, personal, nuclear power. Might take a while, but it could be done.

That is so true. Reminds me of the story of the EPA leadership in San Francisco who had huge ares of forest blocked off from use by the public for “conservation” and then had houses built way up in the forest where they lived. Couldn't let the common people mess up their “views”.

*I’m still for individual freedom with personal vehicles powered by battery backs that can quickly be exchanged instead of charged at service stations.

THEY DON’T WANT US TO USE ENERGY

This is the only logical expalanation when you consider all the opposition to anything that is proposed.

While there is more proven crude oil on earth now (that we can extract) then there was in the 1970s, 80, 90, etc., we are not to touch it because it produces carbon dioxide

Nuclear Energy is the most efficient, cost effective, abundantly available and cleanest, but the bi-product being stuffed under a mountain could be dangerous.

Coal, America's cheapest and most abundant resource for the cost, produces carbon dioxide (or at least used to) and is dangerous for workers to mine (or at least it used to be).

Hydrogen? To expensive to produce and not as efficient when combined with the energy it takes to mass produce it from H2O. It takes Carbon Dioxide to produce hydrogen (based on a recent discussion with an enviro wacko)

Hydro Electric - NO! It kills fish and changes habitats for the wild animals and bugs.

Wind - NO! It kills birds and screws up bees (supposedly)

Wood, let's go back to wood fired heaters and stoves. No! we would have to cut down forests and clear cutting changes the habitat for animals.

Ethenol can be grown....But it burns dirtier than gasoline and produces C02. Besides, our greed would cause starvation around the world (I agree with the second part of this, actually).

Solar - YES!! YES!!! YES!!! - By the way, we can't do that yet. That whole thing about sometimes seasons and clouds affecting the input of our energy source has not been mastered. Of course then there is that whole thing about the energy source going away every night.

How about population control? How about we kill off 75% of the earth's population and go back to being hunters and gatherers? Answer: "Well, exept for that thing about killing, this is what would be best for our planet." Question: "What about the humans? Is this what would be best for the humans?" Answer: "In the long run it probably would?"

Conclusion: The group that contests everything is actually anti-human race. Apparently, in their world the planet is the first concern and the only way to save the planet is to reduce the human impact on it. Ironically, if the goal is to reduce the human impact on the planet and humans are the problem, what are we trying to save the planet for? The next intelligent species to inhabit it?

It is why they must be disregarded as the wackos they are. There is no sensible approach for them and they are too stupid to realize they have no point, ends, means or solutions to a problem they can't really identify.

You might never be able to hook a nuke up to your home but the day that you can get off the grid by buying an efficient fuel cell that uses a variety of fuels including natural gas isn’t too far away.

Large scale nukes aren’t going to happen because the Dems closed out the Yucca mountain storage facility. There are however small nukes being developed that can be buried in the ground and power about 25,000 homes or provide power for industrial processes in remote locations such as the tar sands fields in Canada. The first of these should be activated within the year providing they aren’t banned as well.

The “command economy” that seems to have some ideal of “efficiency” is really an economy of scarcity, which is to the benefit of the favored class, and nobody else. Such an economy will slip further and further behind, until it is somewhere about the level of Europe before the time of the Renaissance, a time of feudal lords and serfs bound to the land.

The miracle of the American Revolution was the removal of restrictions on various classes of human beings over time, which allowed more and more individuals to expand to their full potential. Land ownership, the removal of the concept of slavery and bondage, and universal sufferage were all made possible because the general education level was allowed, even encouraged, to rise to levels never observed elsewhere, and widespread critical thinking became a part of the national spirit.

Dissent may be the highest form of patriotism.

Unless the author is thinking of replacing liquid transportation fuels with hydrogen, which presents a number of hurdles. There is one biofuels technology that holds promise, algae based biodiesel. The yield per acre is far beyond corn based ethanol. As for generating “bulk energy”, i.e. electrical power, nuclear is the way to go. The lefties continue to whine about what to do with the spent fuel rods. Reprocess them , just as is done in Europe, and what was done here in the United States until Jimmah Carter issued the executive order prohibiting civilian power plant fuel rod reprocessing. There is still plenty of usable fissile material in spent fuel rods - something on the order of 90% is not “burned”. The fission fractions need to be separated out, since they are reaction poisions with high neutron capture cross sections. These fractions can be isolated and chemically/mechanically stabilized via vitrification. This was proven at the West Valley Demonstration Project, and is in production level use in France and Germany.

You summed up the core motivation perfectly. The core belief of the deep ecology cult is “Humanity is a virus infecting the Earth Mother Goddess Gaia”. One cult follower wrote that the human population should be no more than 100 million.

Your conclusion, if you are discerning of the Cosmic Battle,
confirms that the enviros/earth worshipers are in the employ, whether they know it or not, of the “prince of this world”.

Satan hates people (made in God’s image), and seeks to destroy them wherever he can. Look at the anti-family agenda as an example as well.
