On Thursday, Americans will mark the first anniversary of perhaps the most historic change in our nation's energy policy — a change supported by the vast majority of the American people — that came in the form of the Oct. 1, 2008, retirement of the congressional embargo on offshore energy exploration and production.
This oil embargo, first imposed by Congress in 1981 as a rider on the Interior Department appropriations bill, was the official policy of the United States for nearly three decades, even as oil imports soared.
Many Americans will never forget the summer of 2008: $4 gasoline, crude oil trading at $150 per barrel and an economy that was in the midst of a recession. This made Americans angry enough to rise up and demand action from their elected leaders in Washington.
Crude Is Waiting
Unfortunately, a full year after that moratorium was retired, American consumers find themselves no closer to accessing these abundant, homegrown energy resources than they were last summer. And they have no one but their government to thank.
Not only have the American people not seen those events translate into real, forward-leaning progress on this critical issue, they've actually witnessed new obstacles erected over the past year that have even further separated themselves and their families from the energy that rightfully belongs to them.

There was a concerted effort among elite Bush reactionaries to drive up the price of oil and decimate the American economy prior to the election.
Oil speculation and mysterious mass withdrawals from banks by folks like Soros and Buffet helped propel a facade of crisis leading to TARP and McCain Palin losing the election.
Now, gasoline is at 2.15 a gallon because there is dwindling global demand for this not so precious resource made precious by the artificial manipulations of environmentalists and sadistic jaded political aristocrats like Buffet and Soros.
Maybe when this Iran situation blows up and shuts down the Strait of Hormuz, and gas goes to $20/gallon, THEN people will wake up and realize we need to get more energy independent.
These jerks in Washington will probably do nothing if foreign countries set up and drill in our off shore oil fields. They keep talking about alternative energy but the fact is their bosses, the environmentalists, don’t want wind mills that might kill a prairie chicken or two, don’t want solar panels littering up our beautiful deserts, and definitively don’t want drilling in the western shale deposits because that is where their beloved Mustang horses plan to live. The only alternative energy source that I can think of that is left is the hot air coming out of Washington.

It was actually 2.19 in Dallas— but I got a 3 cent discount.
$2.13 a gallon outside of Memphis in Northern MS...and with my Kroger $0.10 cent discount at the pumps, $2.03. I never fill my tank anymore cuz I never know what it will be tomorrow.
They can control you better if resources are restricted.
The Exxon-Mobil Mastercard has a 15 cent discount, and my local gas station has a 5-cent-per-gallon coupon, so I get quality Mobil gas for a good bit less than the no-name stations.
Both Dims and Rinos are scared to death of the Tea Party.
