Gonna get on my soap box again. Sorry. But, when I hear we are going to engage with Sudan and provide them "cookies and gold stars", I want to pull my hair out. In what bizarro world does snubbing your allies and making nice with the rottenest of regimes constitute "smart" power. We stand with a leftist who is legitimately deposed. We can't interfere in a rigged election in iran. We cancel a promised missile shield in Eastern Europe. We flip-flop, flip-flop on our foreign policy, shifting like the wind, unable to make a stand for the West and democratic principles. What is the point? What do we gain by abusing our allies and appeasing the despots? At what point does "smart" power become stupid?
